@ Porkie_Pig. It is my understanding ( I have just checked it to be sure) that licence is also probation. Two will serve half of their sentence and be released on licence (or probation) MP will serve all of is sentence, and then have life probation on his release, it that ever happens.

What we must remember these "animals" are going to be assessed before going to prison ...IF they fail!!! that assesment they could go to a prison hospital ..........3 hot meals aday sky tv and privalages you wouldnt believe!!!!

And hes a clever ****....******** or as many ***** as you need to discribe him!

They will go on 6 weeks suicide watch while on the assesment.
Just hope the wardens turn their backs for an hour or so..

Well, according to our local radio, the two men are in Wakefield, home to many of the Catagory A sex offenders.
She has gone to Fostern Hall, home at one time to Maxine Carr, and practically in her own back yard, in Derby.
Lets hope it is only for assessment.

They are also entitled to a counsellor to help them come to terms with the childrens deaths..... :-P

Justice may perhaps, during time, be meted out in prison.

Just thought I'd give this a little nudge as Mairhead Phillpott has been in the news over the past few days.

It stated that she is appealing her sentence hoping to reduce it, I think so please feel free to correct me if worng. Her 1st appeal failed so for her second appeal she has been advised to admit her part in the fire that caused the death of her children and tell the truth. Wasnt she s'posed to do that her trial? I hope they add a few more years on for lying court if that is the case.

isn't it perjury if you lie under oath!!! perjury carries a heavy sentence on it's own - oh dearie dearie me :-D :-D

I haven't read that she will appeal again, this is all I can find:

Mairead Philpott, who received 17 years for killing her six children in a Derby house fire, has failed in her first attempt to get her sentence cut.

The 32-year-old was jailed alongside her husband Mick at Nottingham Crown in April after being found guilty of the manslaughter of Jade Philpott and her brothers John, Jack, Jesse, Jayden and Duwayne.

A Judicial Office spokeswoman confirmed today that Mairead Philpott has had her application for permission to appeal against her sentence refused by a single judge considering it on the papers.

It is open to her to make a renewed application, which would then be considered by a panel of Court of Appeal judges in London.

At the sentencing hearing, Mrs Justice Thirlwall told Philpott she had ignored "obvious" risks to her children's lives by going along with a plan to set fire to her home in Allenton, Derby.

Mick Philpott was jailed for life with a minimum term of 15 years after being branded a "disturbingly dangerous" man.

His wife, who is likely to be released after serving half of her 17-year term, took part in a plan to set fire to the couple's home in Victory Road in an effort to frame his former mistress.

The children were aged between five and 13.

Paul Mosley, 46, who was also found guilty of six counts of manslaughter and jailed for 17 years, had his sentence application rejected.

He can also make a renewed application if he wishes.

I think the only person who should appeal against the sentences is The Attorney General - he should argue that the sentences are to lenient and ask the Appeal Court to increase them :-)

Totally agree with OneFootInTheGrave.

Their sentences should have been appealed as they were are too short. It's about time we started sentencing like the Americans.
