John this is a thread about people abandoning trolleys where they inconvenience others. It was not a thread about fat bashing. You really need to read a thread properly and make sure you understand what a thread is about before you start posting things that have no relevance.

Obserserving overweight lazy, young, uncaring people, who need to push and walk more? Instead of observing them perhaps you ought to get out of you car and ask them if they would like any help taking back there trolley, as they may not be all of the above, they may have disabilities.

Squirming is good for the soul. Good for burning those calories. Good for showing an example to those indolent, idle layabouts who leave trollies everywhere, who drop litter everywhere. Squirm is a great word ;-)

Back to topic.........I thought all supermarkets had pound deposit slots on the trolleys :-S It's a very very long time since I've seen one without.

If you are going to the supermarket and find a trolley on the pavement, you take it back to the shop with you.
Pavement cleared, no problem.
(Which is what Maggie also put, apologies for repeating, but it is an obvious course of action)

Our supermarket uses trolleys that 'lock' when taken too far in the wrong direction - so they would not reach a busy pavement.

I think that it depends what sort of area the supermarket is in whether it has a deposit required.
Sorry, but if the supermarket thinks they are going to be nicked then they will take action. If the area has low crime rate, or low trolley nicking, no deposit required?

Very few supermarkets down here had coin deposit 6 years ago. Most have introduced it (Tesco in Llantrisant and Pontypridd, Morrisons in Porth) since we have lived in Valleys.

They are an answer, I am sure. But an expensive one for the stores. And annoying when you haven't got £1 or it gets jammed. :-(

Tescos and Asda don't have coin slots here.......but most of the other smaller shops do.

I've got one of those pretendy pound coin things on a key ring as I've never got a pound when I need one.

I don’t know which is most disappointing to read, that one automatically assumes that someone who is over weigh is like that because they are lazy or the constant obvious goading of target members. Where he behaves like this on this thread, he posts and preaches on the Christian thread his delight that he is observing the most precious holy day of all. Something of a contrast don’t you think? :-(

All I said was that I had observed overweight people being lazy and leaving their trollies in daft places near store entrances. I thought that observation was highly relevant to the thread.

I have also observed young people doing it too. Do my observations make me fattist and youngist?
