Yes Hayley, I totally agree with you, and thank you for having the nerve to say so. There has been many a day this last couple of weeks, that it has been as dull as ditch water. And, if I may be as bold as to say so, trying to get a good conversation going, has been hard work.
The weather has made us spend more time indoors, so everybody must have been spring cl****ing, ot whatever, 'cause they have not been on here. And all this, and the kids havn't broken up yet.

Dear Deflated, I send you a warm invitation to join Golden Girl and I in a very uplifting jiggy song...it may involve lifting up your skirt and twinklling your little tootsies, so are you ready?

(with thanks to Emma for remind me of this one :-D)

I've travelled about a bit in me time.
Of troubles I've seen a few.
I found it far better in every clime
To paddle me own canoe.

Me wants they are small. I care not at all.
Me debts they are paid when due.
I drive away strife from the ocean of life,
And paddle me own canoe.

And I have no wife to bother me life,
No lover to prove untrue.
The whole day long I laugh with the song
And paddle me own canoe.

So love everybody, trust only the few,
As the world I go travelling through,
And never sit down with a tear and a frown,
But paddle your own canoe.

I rise with the lark from daylight to dark.
I do what I have to do.
I'm careless in wealth. I've only me health
To paddle me own canoe.

And I have no wife to bother me life,
No lover to prove untrue.
The whole day long I laugh with the song,
And paddle me own canoe.

It's all very well to depend on a friend,
That is if you proved him true.
You'll find it better by far in the end
To paddle your own canoe.

To borrow is dearer by far than to buy,
A saying though old still true.
You never will sigh if you only will try
To paddle your own canoe.

And I have no wife to bother me life,
No lover to prove untrue.
The whole day long I laugh with the song
And paddle me own canoe.

Though England has ruled our small little land,
And many's the country too,
Just take my advice and never think twice
To paddle your own canoe.

It's better I say to make your own way,
As the world you go travelling through.
You never will sigh if you only will try
To paddle your own canoe.

And I have no wife to bother me life,
No lover to prove untrue.
The whole day long I laugh with the song
And paddle me own canoe

ButtercupFields Report 14 Jul 2012 14:53

I've been a wild rover for many a year
And I spent all my money on whiskey and beer,
And now I'm returning with gold in great store
And I never will play the wild rover no more.

chorus: And it's no, nay, never,
No nay never no more,
Will I play the wild rover
No never no more.

I went to an ale-house I used to frequent
And I told the landlady my money was spent.
I asked her for credit, she answered me "nay
Such a custom as yours I could have any day."

chorus

I took from my pocket ten sovereigns bright
And the landlady's eyes opened wide with delight.
She said "I have whiskey and wines of the best
And the words that I spoke sure were only in jest."

chorus

I'll go home to my parents, confess what I've done
And I'll ask them to pardon their prodigal son.
And if they caress me as ofttimes before
Sure I never will play the wild rover no more.

chorus

Don't forget to stamp your feet after No Nay Never..stamp stamp stamp....guaranteed to cheer you up!

BC love that one, reminds me of years gone by in a pub in Cornwall.

Yes it has been a little lack lustre on here lately, maybe the weather has been a bit to blame. I think it is time we stopped saying that we don't know what we can post and what we can't and just post what we want to. The worst that can happen is that we get RRd and why worry about that. Bring the fun back onto the threads.

'Emma'

'Emma' Report 14 Jul 2012 15:17

Well said Ann, cause its like pulling teeth some days. :-D

Lady Cutie

Lady Cutie Report 14 Jul 2012 15:25

here.. here .. Ann i totaly agree with you if anyone wants to RR let them
because your not going to please all of the people all of the time.
and it's no good if you have to keep looking over your shoulder .(.so to speak).

Julia

Julia Report 14 Jul 2012 15:34

I agree with what you are saying both AnninGlos and Lady Cutie, but.
I know we cannot please all of the people all of the time, and that there are some that are going to take offence, for whatever reasons. But there are some of us that are deliberately RR'd for no apparent reason, other than we are who we are. Too many of the persistent RR's, and it is us that get the reprimand e-mails from GR, and told that we could find ourselves being barred for life. Not a nice position to be in, whilst the RRer gets away scot free.
