So would you give automatic respect to the westboro baptist church members? You havent answered. And how can bible quotes be in bad taste?

You are entitled to your opinion, of course. which I am equally entitled to ignore.

Yes, it was Henry the 8th who created his own religion. Im not really research....oh, never mind.

EKDRICK
we have spoken on page one i think,im also an athiest,so is my brother, and my uncle ,who is a world renowed scientist,we keep our believes to ourselves,if asked directly we will all speak from our hearts.
my self ,my brother an my uncle were brought up to believe in god, myself and my brother went to sunday school and church on sundays, and i went to a church of england school..
I questioned religion when i was in my teens,i came to my conclusion, ive stuck to that, dont talk about it,its my personal belief.
my husband believes so we married in church, and our four children were baptised in the same church(because they were to young to form their own opinions.daughter getting married in church in aug.x
I do not believe, but i have respect for those who do. :-)

Eldrick Report 7 Apr 2012 22:51

Yes, well if that works for you, thats great and Im happy for you.

Now if the religious would only keep their beliefs to themselves and in their churches, I would be absolutely more than happy to do the same myself. You would never hear a squeak from me. Doesnt seem unreasonable to me.

All I am doing is claiming equal rights. I really do fail to see what is wrong with that. No one goes onto the holy threads and tells them not to do it. Not even me!

:-D :-D

PS cant quite work out how having your children baptised can be justified by saying they were too young to know their own minds,,,,would it not be better to leave them until they did know? Not that its any of my business, just seems to be the wrong way round. Not criticising, you understand, just saying.

Suzanne

Suzanne Report 7 Apr 2012 23:13

no to me,i had no right to make that decision, when my children were older,i told them what had been done on their behalf.when they become mature enough to chose, they took their own paths..only one out of four does not believe.thats ok by me.
and as ive said,i do keep my believes to my self.i do not say unless asked.and then im open to debate. :-D

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 7 Apr 2012 23:25

OK,, its got nothing to do with me, as I said. I left mine to make their own decision, rather than go through an unbaptising if they decided they would be atheists. Just thought it would save a lot of messing about. I subscribe to Dawkins proposition that children should not be given labels as christian, jewish, muslim or anything else, and I think baptising places a tag on them. But thats just me, what other people do is up to them. Never been able to understand the rush to baptise a baby before it has the faintest idea whats going on.

LIkewise, I keep my beliefs to myself. Until I see someone airing theirs, then I reckon that signals open day and everything then becomes fair game.
:-D

Dear Eldrick

Hello

So far this week, I have had a post reported to GR and another thread whoosed.

The first was because I added a peaceful message of goodwill to everybody on your entitled "Happy Ostere" post.

Then my usual full moon alert posts which are fun and gentle was removed.
This was after you derided the post.

Coming into contact with you, seems to be a problem these days.

Most of the GR members know I am not a stirrer or a trouble-maker.

My posts are very gentle, self-depreciating and a little cheeky.

You have never added to any of my posts before, so why pick on them and me now?

I am certainly not fair game for you to pick on.

Best wishes
Elizabeth

Eldrick Report 7 Apr 2012 23:54

eh?

I never deleted any of your posts, how could i? You did it yourself on your moon thread, so dont say you had it 'whooshed', you didn't. And I don't use the RR button, never have - its against my religion. So dont try to insinuate that I am responsible for any of that nonsense.

Neither have i derided any posts. But if you post a message on a public site, then you must be prepared for people who disagree to add. Don't confuse that with deride. You have come onto here, and you are welcome to add your view, disagree, preach, do as you will. By all means deal with the topic, but do not deal with me personally. I will let it go once, maybe twice, but it is bad manners, impertinent and unwarranted. You know me not, nor I you. I didn'tt think you were a bad mannered person.

Dear Eldrick

Hello

My record of over 4 years of using the GR boards back me to the hilt:

No post has ever been reported and most members like my posts.

I never whoosed my own thread; I found that it was gone.

As I said, you have never added to the Full Moon post before, so you could have always started your own.

Why bother now?
.
I have excellent manners; this is bourne out by the contents of my posts.

You have picked on me and I am telling you to stop it.

Do not undermine me again.

Please back off.

There will be no need for further contact.

Best wishes
Elizabeth

Elizabeth, I know your post was RRd without any good reason. You may not be aware that many posts have been reported, it would seem, just for some sad person's sport.

It truly could have been anyone, either a member of GR or just someone looking in.

It serves no purpose trying to point the finger as in most cases the RRer is just malicious and probably has not posted in their own name.

Eldrick .. people can believe anything they want.
I have no problem with people who have religious beliefs but are willing to admit there is no solid proof for their faith
I actually respect them for not demanding proof that can be hit with a stick....

Elizabethofseasons .. you are waffling Luv .

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 8 Apr 2012 08:36

Well, yes, i agree totally. I will defend a persons right to believe what they want with my blood! But i will also defend a persons right to disagree and if that takes someone outside their comfort zone, then so be it. They can always come back and say ' no, you are wrong because....'. But they dont, they just attack the person instead. Its normal.

EoS your insinuations and accusations are offensive. Youve spoilt my whole easter you have. I shall have to sacrifice a graven image made from chocolate to the great pikiwicki.

Back off? Its a message board, lol. Everyone knows i didnt rr your post, same as everyone knows that you deleted your own thread.

I know, but on the bright side the minister at the temple of smiths puts out cheese and pickles and lttle bits of black pudding in the shape of a rabbit, which is quite appropriate in many ways.

I saw that

I bought one but it was possessed by a demon. I didnt know whether to drive it over the edge of a cliff or eat it. I shared it with the dogs in the end, i think they got the demon bit cos they were sick all over the floor.

Praise be to pikiwickiwikidikidoodah!

Ok - how did I spend Easter Sunday? Well we went to our daughter and SIL's home for breakfast with the grandchildren and the in-laws. My mum and son were there too. Then we had fun watching the children hunt for eggs in the garden before going back in for coffee. A morning that I should think God and atheists alike would approve of.

Hi cyn and nice to hear from you. Hope you have a great day!

I know what you mean about standing room. Our multi denominational meeting will be full of people from all faiths, all are welome. Even those that drink lager and put water in their whisky.

Kay, they are fine now, i exorcised them. For about an hour, chasing a ball and rabbits. They are tired, though.
