today i am going to cut the grass again and sort the hedge out
almost instant improvements

may even hoe the weeds if any dare grow in my garden

Try to do the lawn first ,leaving grass too late in the morning ,or early afternoon can check growth and actually damage grass ,and don't forget ,a spring feed is now due[the sort that has a weed killer in] to give you that lovely lush look..
Good luck with the hedge ,the bane of my life ,lol ,i have them along the full length of the frontage ,6 ft high ,nearly a full days work for this old bu**er ,he he '
I am off out again shortly to move all the spent compost round to the greenhouse ready for the marties after lacing with chicken poo and a little lime.then it's time to start on all the new urns ,to replace all the frost damaged ones on the front patio.nearly got me tied up until tea time i reckon,better get it done today because it's forecast for rain tomorrow :-( .Fred [in to each life ,and all that] lol :-)

it only takes me 15 mins to do both its tiny
with a large boarder filled with bulbs ect

i have a big tub of chicken muck so might give it a treat

fred lovely, what do you think about bone fish and blood mix for a feed i have a willow tree where the branches are longer than the tree xxx :-D

Blood ,fish ,and bone ,one of the best slow release fertalizers on the market ,and is highly recommended by all the old fashioned gardeners who know their stuff.
A word of caution though ,all bone products can cause skin ,and breathing problems ,if inhaled .
Only use on a calm day so the wind dosn't blow it into your face ,and wear rubber gloves,until you are finished,as all feeders ,liquid ,or solid ,use caution.
I use blood fish and bone for feeding my beans ,carrot and parsnip ,but don't over do it for carrot or parsnip ,too rich a soil causes the roots to fork ,or twist .
Ideal too for roses and fruit trees.Fred. :-D .P/s there are two common willow ,yours sounds to be a weeping willow ,they are supposed to trail to the ground ,lol.

ARE WE STILL AT RISK FROM FROST, AND........ PLANTS BEING SOLD OUTSIDE I TAKE IT CAN STAY OUT AS THOSE IN GREENHOUSES ETC.

IVE PICKED UP A VINTAGE IMATATION PLANT STAND WHICH HAS BEEN MADE TO LOOK SIMILAR TO A VICTORIAN PRAM, SO IVE SPRAYED IT AND WANT TO PUT SOME TRAILING PLANTS ON TOP WITH VIOLAS AND SUMMERISH PLANTS TO GO THROUGH THE YEAR, ITS FOR MY STALL, YESTERDAY I USED A SMALLISH BASKET WITH HANDLE WHERE OASIS COULD OF BEEN, SO I DISTREESED PAINTED THE WHICKER THAT HAD BEEN PAINTED WHITE , SO I WENT OVER WITH PURPLE NAILVARNISH ADDED A 6 CARTONED PURPLE AND WHITE VIOLAS WITH PURPLE RIBBONS ATTATCHED, NOW IM NOT THE SLIGHTES BIT ARTY, MY DIL ADDED THE RIBBON, BUT IT WOULD MAKE A LOVELY MOTHERS DAY GIFT. :-D

We are at risk of frost sometimes (although it is more unusual) to the end of May depending on where we live and if where we live is protected in some way. We don't put tender plants out until late May if we can avoid it. Most annuals are not frost resistant.

TAHKS ANN, IS ANNUELS EVERY YEAR AND PERANIELS EVERY OTHER SORRY TO BE DUMB XX

Annuals are the ones you plant for just that current year, Like petunias. Perennials are the ones you plant one year to flower the following year like foxglove

Cough cough Anne, I am willing to be corrected but believe that it is biennials which will flower in their second year, whereas perennials are continual each year until they pop their clogs.

So as I know it - annuals - one summer

biennual - flower second summer eg sweet william,
wallflower.

perannual - flower/grow for more than 2 years eg. hostas,
hebes etc etc.

I knew somebody would correct me :-D

Soreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee - only know it because since OH had to take over gardening as opposing all his efforts into fruit and veg - he always asks suspiciously is this an annual or the other ones!!!!!! So I am like a record stuck in the groove. ;-)

I'm looking forward to my mother's day pressie from Dan, I know what it is because we just bought them... seeds! Forget-me-not, nicotiana and nightscented stock :-D

Well RR you won't have to buy forget-me-nots ever again - they will seed like everywhere and make the garden look so pretty. The large nicotiana and stock have lovely perfume.

We've always had forget-me-nots Chris, taken from garden to garden when we've moved, but not to here unfortunately so I shall be happy to see them come up :-D

Thankyou Ann and Chris, i cant wait to do my sweetcorn, one year just dropped spme in the ground, it had been a lawwn that a gardener had turned over, sometime later theyre tall nd edible, but last yeaR OR ONE BEFORE THEY ROTTED ON Stalks, i didnt pay them a lot of attention, so i will this year xx :-D xx

For a couple of years I've been on the look out for spaghetti squash seeds today I found them so am going to give them a try, my sister that lives in Canada told me about this squash, she thinks the are delicious.

never heard of them lesley, its like these sky scraper lillies i have they are supposed to go 6 to 8ft, so ive got them in big tubs , id never heard of them x xx :-D
