Puss, it may be tempting to take him home, but could your Mum cope. It is very hard work, and you would be looking after him 24/7, not the few hours a day which nurses do. Nurses get to leave it mostly at work when they go home, which makes it more bearable. |

Puss, I have personal experience of the hospice at Bicton Heath, which from what I can gather from what you've said before, would be near to where your Mum and Dad live. |

hi, thaqnks again, he is top of the list at the hospice but i cant understand why he is not there as i was told he had a bed there, i get the feeling the consultant wants to keep him in brum and i think its something to do with the open wound on his leg, but surely there are trained staff and doctors there to pack and dress it its not as if he is isolation and you cant catch cancer so yet again i sit tomorrow and wait to see consultant, helen thanks mayby i can speak with you about the one at bicton, and ann thankyou for help, thanks all xxxx |

Thinking of you all Puss, hope you can get your stepdad a bed at the hospice, the one here was so kind to my Dad when he was there for respite care and he ended up back there for the last two days of his life. The kindness and understanding the staff showed was lovely, and he couldn't have been better looked after, or my Mum when she was there with him. |

I am so sorry to hear your news, it is just four years since my dad died from cancer as well. The hallucinations can be hard to deal I remember having a long conversation about when I learnt speak in Japanese, which he thought I was doing. |
