Well, it's only Friday, LLP, so I'm ignoring it still. Come Monday, I may be fretting a little.

And not just fretting ....

hahahaha, take that, you who don't like gory details. ;)

Play loud music for diversion and sip apple juice in between the medicine:-) You will be fine. BC

Ew, BC. I detest apple juice. ;) But actually, I did notice a litre of the stuff in the back of the bottom pantry shelf yesterday -- good reminder, it wasn't too bad, I'll dig it out.

I hate it because, well, it's horrible, but also, when I spent 3 months in traction in hospital at the age of 8, they'd bring around the afternoon drinks trolley, and I'd go Yes! Vernor's Ginger Ale! Vernor's is a northern US thing we got in southern Ontario, a very up-your-nose gingery ginger ale. I love it. But 3 times out of 4, what was it? Apple juice. Flat and ... well, flat ... as a drink can be. Yech.

Apple juice and jello and disgusting potions. And that's just the prep!

"Bottoms up" ... keep 'em coming, folks, I'll be here all weekend. ;)

Oh, I get such sympathy ... yes, dire things happen to moi, and it just brings out the jokester in you all.

Well, I *am* going to tell you all about it. A diary starting at 7 a.m. Monday, I think, when I am to eat an egg and a piece of dry toast and a cup of tea. Never mind that eggs and tea make me puke, horrible things, and I don't eat breakfast ...

oh that's dreadful Janey.....well hope it all goes well.

see ya!

(you don't think I ever stay around for the gory bits do you - I give my sympathies and scarper.....I'm far too screamish)

PS Is it a boiled egg?

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 3 Sep 2010 20:33

It seems to be an egg anyway you like it. The only way I like an egg is hard boiled, chopped up, with mayonnaise and lots of onion and maybe some capers or olives.

I have the feeling that isn't allowed. ;)

I can do a well-done scrambled egg. I think it's just meant for people who can't face the idea of going w/o food, but it doesn't bother me. I'll follow instructions like a good little patient, though ...

Except for the tea. Water's fine for me!

I don't like eggs runny or orange. They have to be yellow hard boiled, scrambled or if they are fried, the yolk has to be split and cooked until yellow.

What kind of toast? Brown/white?

Uggers

Uggers Report 3 Sep 2010 20:39

I don't like to think of anyone (or many people anyway) going through unpleasant things so I hope it goes smoothly and the results are good but - no, ta:)

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 3 Sep 2010 20:44

SRS, exactly like me. I puked up eggs when I was 6 months old. It is likely an allergy to the protein, which breaks down when thoroughly cooked. I like quiche fine! Which would be because I'm not a real man. ;)

I'm not sure whether that "going smoothly" was rude, Uggers. I'll be "going" for about 30 hours, as I understand it. ;)

Do you over there -- well, not likely, but I'll ask anyway -- get television commercials for some toilet paper brand or other that now uses the slogan "Enjoy the go!"?

That's about the most idiotic commercial slogan I've encountered this year, I gotta say.

Janey

My friend in Wales had the procedure in April - she said the actual procedure was not too bad - it is the drinking of the fluid the day before to clear our and clean the area - the probe and camera goes -

She was not permitted to eat anything after midnight on the day of op - and only drink water after midnight

Good luck and buy a rubber ring to sit on

A rubber ring?? You mean ... there are aftereffects? Ah, the parts they don't tell you. See, I knew this thread was a good idea! Look at all the reassurance I'm getting. ;)

What I need to do, of course, as my mum has already said, is consult my little sister, who's had numerous of them, having had the cancer. She'll just tell me to suck it up, I'm pretty sure.
