I'm having a, er, medical procedure on Tuesday (what a lovely long Labour Day weekend I get).

So who wants to hear about it?

Beforehand, the technicalities.

Afterward, the experience.

Vote early, vote often!

I'm dashing off some overdue work this afternoon (it's c2pm here now), but I'll check in to tally. ;)

No no no lol ...I have an aunt I can go to for that... even your wry sense of humour won't sweeten the pill of hearing about your 'procedure'....I am not one of those who 'like to know' ;)

good luck though :)

Good grief. Everybody else's get discussed at length and in gory detail!

You're all going to have to have this one, one day, if you haven't already.

I'm having it because my little sister could easily have died of the cancer the procedure is used to detect, and because our risk all rises as we age, but mine could be higher by genetics.

I just thought those who have had it might want to offer me those "don't worry, behappy, you won't feel a thing" reassurances, and those who haven't would want to know what to expect. Mind you, it being me, something will undoubtedly go drastically wrong and I'd just scare everybody else off. ;)

Well, in IIB's thread we were talking about embarrassing procedures, you see. ;)

It's the dreaded

I am sure this is a scary time for you but feel that you will sail through it as you are a strong and positive person.

Wow that sounds patronizing but is not meant too.

I send you my best wishes

Janey,if it is what I had the other day,then.....er...does it involve drinking lots of disgusting stuff beforehand? If it is that, then, it's a doddle:-) BCXX

sooner you than me, Janey, what I had was frightening enough, but when all was said and done, apart from a few days of discomfort......a job well done!!

Janey a person of my acquaintance had this ( I won't say who but, like me, not one of lifes 'brave little soldiers' when it comes to things like that ) and it wasn't 'that bad'...I believe the huge dose of valium prescribed beforehand helped ;)

I don't do gory details or participate in such threads, that's why I answered when you asked for a vote !

But I wish you well :)

My only concern is the sedation. I'm not easily sedated. The intake nurse on the phone kept telling me how well sedated I would be. They don't know me.

And -- I can tell them to stop anytime!

Well, if I'm awake enough to tell them to stop, I'm not sedated enough. DUH.

And ... stop now, and do it all over again later? I think not.
