My hysterectomy was 25 years ago, and it was quite quick then. When a couple of weeks had passed I began to feel the benefit, more energy etc. No more monthlies either. The operation heals quickly and though you might find it a little painful to stand tall for a few days it son passes. It isnt advisable to do a lot of lifting for about three months after the op. Hope that helps. |

Thanks jean, was just off to bed and noticed your reply, thankyou, i think some times looking on line is a bit scary, i wonder how long the op takes, i believe they can do them by another method too. |

Hello alyson, very sorry to hear about your husband and i hope the treatment is sucessful. having been through it with my daughter, i can sympathise with the travelling to and fro, its exhausting. the radiotheraphy is only probably a few minutes a day but getting there and back takes much longer. |

Puss, sometimes they can do a removal via the vagina, or the other way is a cut just where your belly folds to hang over a bit, that is done from side to side. They will aim to leave you with the smallest scar possible. |

Thanks Jean, im hoping it wont go that far, there starting with a laporoctmy, from repairing , a different biopsy and if they dont like what they see they said they will remove the lot, ive got llesions and adhesions from having cysts removed and sections in the past, so its a case of going to sleep and hopefully waking up and hubby being there. |

Puss, a laparotomy is done with a vertical cut. Most scars these days soon almost disappear. Mine went to the right of my navel. Over the years i have lost count of the times I have been under anaesthetic for one reason or another. I have a scar from right ankle to just above the knee, and then four scars on my abdomen and chest. Luckily for me I am quite good with anaestheic.! Good luck with it all. |

I had a full Hysterectomy in 2005 they did it from the outside three insertions. most people went in and was out within four days but I was in there for a week. So many people had it done. |

I had a hysterectomy when I was 37, via the vagina. Best thing I've ever done no more monthlies. Felt tired for a while but that was all no probs bounced back and never felt better in my life. Still have ovaries but went on HRT in change suited me fine, wish I had that much energy now. Puss going to see a solicitor next week, to find out how I stand legally with the house.Maybe then I will start divorce proceedings, but stupid man then niether of us will win. Elaine <3 |

Thanks again jean, i know there looking at the bowels, as things changed about 2 months ago, and my body isnt absorbing any fat, its weird this all started as a ovarion cyst, but its all in there hands now, because of the aneasthetic, for part of the op i can have a spinal, and should the need arise they said they can have me asleep inseconds, i remember when i had a section with my son i had a spinal, i was staring up at the steel and could see the reflection, so i looked at the side, and could see wads of blood stained cloth in the end i shut my eyes, im sqeamish lol. :-Dxx it really helps chatting so thankyou with all my heart xxxx |

you go girl about time you thought of yourself, but please be carefull that he dosnt get antagonised though and hit you or something, and if you feel threatend please please get out and phone the police, you will then be placed in a safe house, if that happened you wouldnt be able to tell even your closest of family/friends, as he could get it out of them, you have my number use it sweety, its surprising once that an independant move like that how they suddenly change and want you back and prommise never to hit or verbally abuse you again, they always do, im so pleased your feeling positive elaine and he hasnt worn you so far down to a pulp that you are terrifed to help your self, i think your amazing, and like ive said you have lots of friends on here and we are with you all the way xxxxx |
