We get lots of phone calls ,it comes up on the phone as International Dialling ,we just hit the red button and turn them off ,i have answered it and it was a foreigner asking for hubby ,i said he wasn't there so they hung up.
Jane that rhyme we used to say
Whats the time ,half past nine hang your britches on the line when they're dry bring them in keep them up with a safety pin.
Lovely sunny day again ,got the fan going as i have just hoovered upstairs and i got so hot !!
My runners are not looking to good , thought i was going to get lots of beans ,can only see a few ,i think a lot of the flowers have just dropped off.

Afternoon All
Glorious and sunny with a slight breeze.......wish I was lying on a grassy clifftop with the sound of the sea..........no such luck, have to clean the bathroom as someone is coming to adjust the shower temperature as it is now too hot for me in this hot weather, even on the lowest setting. Also I'm expecting a rug to be delivered for the little hallway I decorated and had a new floor in. OH is turfing things out of the garage so goodness knows what he is throwing away!! lol He is covering the drive with stuff.....looks like a yard sale. lol
Yes, hope it all goes well Sheila.
Mandy, I've never heard that rhyme before......it occured to me that our childhood chants often had knickers in them!! lol Your bean problem sounds the same as mine. I still have some flowers on the ground around mine, but I've been able to pick some beans. I have noticed there are bumble bees climbing around the back of the flowers too, so maybe they do bite them off. I am going to put net curtain around them next year. lol
Your school sounds quite good Elizabeth. At home I had to be in bed by 8.30pm at age 13 and dad banned reading in bed to save the electric. He didn't know I used to use a torch in bed!! In winter I even did homework in bed by torchlight at times as it was quieter than the living room with the tv on and a noisy 6 year old sister and baby brother. Not very warm though!

Afternoon All, I Mel, This Indian Gent. is a fake as sure as I'm a man. I have had so many calls from him, and a woman ,that I threatened them with the POLICE, I hanen't HEARD FROM THEM FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS.
Had a big set too, this morning. The guys from the conservatory company came to look at my door. They were here no more than 5 minutes, and said they couldn't do anything with it.!!!! I thanked them for their trouble and asked "WHAT DO I OWE YOU" thinking he would say give me a drink, but oh no. £50.00 call out charge. I said I don't keep money in the house, It will have to be a cheque. He then said it would have to be £65.00 plus VAT. I told him I thought he was taking the Pi##. and offered him my Solicitors name and address, and said I will see you in court. With that they left the house with nothing. Ros SAID I SHOULDN'T HAVE LOST MY TEMPER AND JUST PAID UP. !!! NOT ME.
Its jumping all over the place now. BBL

Will try again, have clicked on the torn paper.
I'm now in the process of reporting this company to the local "booklet" who they advertise in. You can imagine some poor old soul (NO COMMENT) just paying up without question. they could make a fortune. £260.00 plus an hour plus VAT. nice work if you can get it.!!!!!! and they haven't got a tool out of the box, God knows what they charge for a days work.
Hope Shelia got on all right this morning. I'm sure she will be fine.
Ros is at hairdressers have her streaks put in, new girl when she returns.
Have dug up loads of old plants from front garden, and trimmed the tree by the drive. sucked up all the old dried leaves from under the bushes. and put a sack of fresh soil on the border. When I empty the pots. sacks, that compost can go on there as well, ready for new bulbs in the autumn.
Going for a shower now and shave, then a sit in the garden. Still no sign of rain. Had it bad up north. Did you see Liverpool on the news last night. and they are on Hose pipe ban. !!!

I'm just pleased I have saved all that money. I think we can live with the door for now. A new one will be well in excess of £1000.00 as it's not a conventional door, but one that pulls back on itself and slides. They don't make them anymore. It will mean having the whole lot, refitted which will be over 8ft wide. Or taking the two windows out, bricking up one part and having a new door fitted to the conservatory. See what No. 1 sons says.
Still not showered. Finished off in the garden, done veg for tonights dinner, and hoovered through. Can I have Brownie points, please Auntie MEL.
Jane, I bet you will be glad to get into something cool after your hospital visit. It's never cool in those places. and the old people always say it's cold.
Still very warm, I'm off into the garden now, get showered later.

Elizabeth ,where does your daughter live?It is a difficult decision to stay or go. An old friend of my Mum moved to Holt in Norfolk to be near her daughter. She moved from Somerset and is now going to move back as she misses all her friends terribly and hasn't been able to meet new ones where she lives. She is 85 now !!.When my mum had Dementia she wanted to be near me ,so I found a lovely Home about 10 miles from here. The trouble was I was her only visitor and she was very unhappy. So we ended up moving her back to Plymouth.Which was better for her as a few of her old pals would pop in ,or take her out.It meant a lot of travelling for me to visit ,but I think it was the right choice.

evening all It has poured down all day .never gave up.
I went to see dad this afternoon he's going through the empty wardrobe stage where the staff keep finding him filing black bin liners with clothes and saying he's waiting for the bus to take him home. I put all his clothes back in the wardrobe and drawers and explained that this was his home now as he was not able to remember how to find his way back to the other home. He just kept telling me that no one had told him that he had to stay there and who was it made the arrangements for him to be here. The coversation was greatfully interupted by one of the staff coming in and offering tea so I didn't need to go into any other details thank goodness
time for me to set the table for dinner, need to go BBL

I don't know that Rhyme Mandy.o you remember singing Run Rabbit Run Rabbit Run Run Run? You are certainly getting good use out of your pool this year.I suppose the problem with it being at your house you have the family every day and feed them too lol I saw a lady yesterday with a sreaming toddler in the shopping trolley.I could have with ear plugs!!!.She did the right thing by ignoring her son ,and just carried on with her shopping. But poor lady looked so embarrassed !!!
I had a sudden wave of fatigue come over me about an hour ago.Had to have a lie down on the settee.I think I have my second wind now. It's just been so hot and humid again.
I saw on the news about Plym Wood in Plymouth where they are having to cut down thousands of trees because of some disease. They are the woods I used to go to when I was a little girl. What a shame.
