That was a good WDYTYA, wasn't Alexander Armstrong in a sit com with Caroline Quintin and didn't he do the Pimms advert. Fancy finding that much nobility in your family. My aunt married the 3rd son of a Lord so my cousin should find it quite easy to trace his family tree but he's not interested.

I have wasted nearly 3 hours trying to put something on E.Bay, not that it's their fault, I couldn't get a decent photo with my camera and have been fiddling with all the settings on it, can't get a photo at all now !!!!!

Just reading back on some of the posts. Hope the chair was worth something Ann after lugging it all that way !!!!

Sheila your Beryl's dad sounds the same as my mum's dad. Her mum would send her and her brother and sister to stand outside the local pub and get the rent money off her dad before he went in !!!!!

Sorry my deleted my message by mistake. I have just painted a door and covered myself. Waiting for it to dry. Where are the beautiful buildings they have kept round the Bullring none of those were there all new and the Bull Ring is full of very modern
shops and we have lost all the ones like Littlewoods and Woolworths most of ther buildings were knocked down and they put up a brass bull the only old buildings is the 16th century pub beautiful old pub in Digbeth which they tried to get rid of. I do not like the Bull Ring at all now and I live there
someone had the idea of making Birmingham into Britians next top city they ruined it. Most of the original shops have closed. I think it impressive for a days visit thats all . I hope Ros ,s problem is not serious. Solihull is the place to go if you want nice shops on the outskirts of Birmingham ,Me if I wish
to shop I nip up to London on the train and back . They demolished a beautiful building and put up some high rise offices it was a Arcade been there for years lovely place for lunch and coffee on a Saturday. I do enjoy the cafe on the corner near the Bullring and at least they kept St Martins in the
Field church. I used to pop in with my mum at Christmas after shopping in the old Bull Ring and we would light a candle and
sing afternoon carols oh those were the days why do they change things.

Well so much for doing housework and ironing today.i have done none. After going to Market Harborough this morning (and buying some lovely stuff in the Deli),I popped to Tes** for a couple of bits.Saw someone I hadn't seen for a few years ,so had a long chat. Then dropped shopping off at home. After that went down to Fitz and have spent the last few hours showing him Family Search,BDM etc,and Google street view.He was so excited lol
When I got home just now ,James said Hannah rang to say she has been offered the job in London (the one she was snapped up for on Friday). She just needs to go and see where it is and makes sure she can sensibly commute .I feel a long discussion tonight !!

Have just been on another site where someone posted really nasty things about Samantha Cameron which is pretty horrible, but what totally shocked me was that someone said that they wished her baby had died!!!!!! Can you believe that? What an incredibly wicked thing to say. You may not like someones politics but to wish their baby had died is just completely outrageous!! I'm amazed that comments like that get posted. What with that and the lady trying to murder someones cat, its all getting too much,I'm just getting too old to cope with such awfulness!

Great news about Hannah's job Jane, will she need to find somewhere to live or does she already have some where in London.
Tea is cooking while I speak just us 3 ,OH away down in Crew not back till Friday so it's just a quick tea, Chicken ham & cheese escallops with mixed veg and new potatoes, follwed by Ice cream cornets.
Must go smell burning HELP!!!!!!

Oh thats awful Niggley! GR will probably take it out!

I have done a bit of potting in the garden as OH has taken some of the bank away and dug up some big ferns. I have potted one in a big poy and a few smaller ones in a little window box, hoping they will fit under the seat on the decking in the fairy garden.

Sheila that is a picture of Ann and I !!!!!!!!! not Ann and her OH.

My garden is 6 and a half acres in all so always plenty to do.

Mum has a low count of red blood cells but won't go to hospital for tests in her stomach. The doc said there is nothing they can do for her.

Sheila

Sheila Report 24 Aug 2010 18:45

I saw that where someone said that Niggly and not long ago someone said
Peter Sutcliff who murdered all those girls should be let out of prison. Some people are hard If you seem to be sensitive like me and people do not always think like we do maybe. I do not think anyone should say a baby should die.
I saw a man really shaking a little boy in the park and he shuck him so hard the little chap was sick. I said to some women walking her dog that poor little boy
being shook like that and she said oh he deserved it he picked a ice cream up off the floor someone had dropped. I just walked off people really are the pits sometimes.

Sheila ,I always think it is a terrible shame when they knock down old buildings and built modern blocks.I don't know Birmingham City even though I am not that far away.I went a couple of years ago and stayed in the Hyatt Hotel(Not sure if that is the right spelling),when we went to the Concert Hall.

No Mel,the comments wen't on GR, and I've just had another look as I began to think I must have misunderstood what this person said, but no,there it was. Wicked, Wicked! Same person must have felt well chuffed when the Cameron's poor little handicapped boy died! time to hang flags out I guess!!!!! dear me there are some dreadful people around. Maybe we'll get a fine day soon, that should cheer us all up!

Jane

Jane Report 24 Aug 2010 19:05

There are a lot of sick people around Elizabeth.I always think they have a problem!!(Mentally )I hope Samantha Cameron takes no notice ...if she sees these terrible remarks.
Mel ,why won't your Mum go for tests? The Doc is right saying they can't do anything as until she has a reason for having a low count they won't know how to treat her.

Hannah is going to London next friday to spend the afternoon with what may be her new job lol.
Fiona she will have to commute from here for some time, and maybe in the new year find somewhere to stay.If she accepts the job she will probably start in October.
The Clinical Psychologist who spotted her at the job she went for last week said she did "A Cracking Interview) lol

It is raining !!!

Sheila.... Have you tried cutting up ONIONS to absorb the paint smell. I've found it works.

Trudged around 101 shops for curtains.I wanted ready made... what a job lol
Eventually found some in John Lew##. Mmm I won't tell OH how much they cost lol. Feel guilty now.... oh well lol

Sheila ... I had to laugh at the thought of Beryl in a fur coat in August. Then I wondered whether she might be wearing that bikini underneath in case the sun shone lol

Jane... I was pleased for Hannah. It's so competitive at the mo, so she's done really well.
So your mum was a Devonshire girl.... What a lovely place to come from.
What I remember about Westward Ho was The Statue of Charles Kingsley and the size of the waves lol. They were huge - great for surfers.
One of my favourite places is Appledore. Very quaint and peaceful.

The person who posted about the Cameron's baby should be reported to the site. They should be baned from the human race. Why can't they just keep their thoughts to themselves, and let us normal human beings carry on with our lives.

Still got three chickens Annx. one of the brown ones died a few weeks ago. Only one laying at present.

Hear, hear Shirl, They were the good old days in lots of respect. Everyone looking out for each other, and sharing what we had. If you had more of something than you needed we would give it to someone who didn't have it. I still do it today, Beans, Apples, Tomatos, Care for anyone who is not up to it, A neighbour was in hospital for quite a time and Ros would go in visiting, and do all her washing. When she came out I cooked for her for a month, till she got on her feet.

Jane, There must be something else to happen for Hannah, They always come in THREES. The house, a job, what next "A GRAND DAUGHTER" LOL LOL

Weather forcast isn't good for tomorrow. MEL looks like you are going to get first crack at it.!!!! then upto us, then further North. Might brighten for the weekend.

What is the matter with people, are their lives so sad they wish the worse for everybody else. I'm sure the Camerons, as all people in the public eye, are used to these nut cases and take no notice.

How do the youngsters do it ???? Son came in and I told him about my camera, he just switched it on and got a perfect picture, HOW DID YOU DO THAT. I've had that camera more than two years and didn't know how to take a picture properly.

I've never been to Birmingham Sheila but it does seem a shame, sounds like they've knocked the stuffing out of the city. I live only a tube ride from central London but hardly ever go shopping there. Too many posh shops.

Annx

Annx Report 24 Aug 2010 21:27

Sheila that's what I meant.........St Martins Church is a lovely old building. Here in Leicester they build right up to and around old buildings like that so you can't see them properly.

How people behave these days is pretty awful, saying such terrible things, but I wonder how many more think like that but say nothing. I see she has had the baby today..... 3 weeks early.....a little girl.

Well done Hannah!! I must admit I always dreaded the prospect of a commute to London to work. We could be sent anywhere within an hours travel and London was. It was the thought of the tube journeys that put me off. Still the way to look at it is that it is a means to getting on in your career and that it won't be for ever!! All good experience in life and good for your CV!! lol

I bought some shrubs today with some birthday vouchers, a Daphne with lovely scent when it flowers, a Hypericum with pink bubblegum colour berries on at the moment and an evergreen with wrinkly small leaves.

Well if the weather forecast is right it's washing out first thing tomorrow and hope it dries before the rain comes then. Off to bed now.......my new ultra lightweight hoover should arrive tomorrow.......

PS Perhaps it reset itself by being switched off Maureen??? Or your son is a dabhand with these things!!

Jane

Jane Report 24 Aug 2010 21:30

Frank!!!!! Don't you dare things like that lol.(even though I would love to be a Grandma)Still keeping fingers crossed for the final signatures on her house.I have no idea how many weeks it takes.
I love caring for people and helping out if needed.I am keeping an eye on Fitz's Mum in a couple of weeks while they all go away for a wedding for the weekend.I will just pop down and make sure she is alright ,make sure she has had lunch and pop a meal in the microwave in the evenings, and feed Fitz's cat and his Mums.
