I posted on page one, but came back on to say I'm glad you are staying, I'v only spoken to you once before (I think) on another thread that Dizzi put up a couple of wks ago were we and a few other's took over the thread (unintensionally ) I think we spoke about fallout's with are children.

Just to update you all
Well we have all swopped photos ,phone numbers ect
And today my Dad and Margaret talked for the first time which was fantastic
They are now going to keep in regular contact
And are planning to meet soon
A great outcome for us all xxx

Great new's PP, glad it all went so well and that your dad and Margaret have finally met, it must of been very nerve racking for them both and of cause the rest of you as well. This is what GR is all about hun and to hear this kind of new's give's other's hope for themselves.

they have only talked on the phone Diane one is in Scotland the other in essex we are going to sort it out for them to meet as soon as we can

More wonderful news! Are their accents very different. Are you comparing noses and chins and eye shape when you look at the photos.
Have family in both places got one of those modern "do everything" phones, where you can send an instnt picture of each other to each other, as you are speaking?

Have you (or anyone else) come down from cloud nine yet?

It is all very exciting!!!!

However, if it was my family, I wouldn't involve the press/media at their first meeting. Let them see each other first and break the ice a bit first, before inviting non-family members to join in the fun.

Although of course, it does make a great story, it would be good to have good news in the press, instead of doom and gloom, and silly Celeb shenanigans.

To answer all your questions
My dad talks scottish and my aunt talks english so completely diffrent accents
My cousin e-mailed me photos of Margaret and their families to me i then e-mailed them to a friend who lives not to far from my mum and dad and they printed them off and took them round
my dad and mum sent photos down to Margaret and her family to arrive next day so they got them
looking at the photos is amazing my sister and dad look so much like Margaret its uncanny
we have decided to wait before we do anything with the press until they meet and then take it from there it will be their decision
the next step now is to arrange them meeting so we are in the middle of sorting that out
but i will keep everyone updated as we go xxxx

Thanks for all the details PP I almost feel that it is long lost members of my own family reestablishing contact. I picture your four year old father having a baby sister and sudenly, she wasn't there anymore.
He must have thought a lot of her, for the big brother feeling to stay with him all these years.

Now at last he can feel like a proper big brother again.
Well done to everyone whose hard work and persistence boought this about.

Well done to your friends too, for taking the emailed photos to your parents. I bet they are excited by it all.

Your right for him to remember being the age he was is amazing he did remember
he seemed to rember she wore little red shoes and she danced a lot lol
but i know its been a longing for him all these years to find her
mum and dad tried but the technology back then was not the same
and everywhere they went they were told records had been destroyed so they couldnt check
then i decided i was going to try
something i wanted to do for my dad
and it paid off
still seems unreal
