If you are having problems, bear in mind it doesn't say the three items all have to be connected.

I think we're all picturing a scene with all three elements in it at the same time.

Try what Ann said, separate them all...might be easier

Got it now. I have managed to write a draft and enjoyed the challenge ! Will tweak it tomorrow.

good hope that helped. Once I had grasped the fact that they didn't all have to be connected it was much easier so i thought I would share it, after all it is not a competition, you are welcome to a bit of my brain when it happens to be working Lol!!! I might need yours next week.

I wonder if the canoe could be a rowing boat? If so, Im there...if not I need to do a bit of tweaking!

Thanks, Jane, btw xx

PS Ann, i thought they ll had to be inter-related somehow? Now I'm not so sure.... dear oh dear!

AnninGlos Report 9 Feb 2010 09:44

Helen I think you will find they all need to be part of the poem, story and therefore related in that way. (elements of the whole).

Thank-you, Ann, I'll see what I can think of.

I still haven't done mine, but plenty of time yet. I've been a bit distracted with something else I'm writing.

I'll get there though.

Helen, I dont' think it's necessary to make them all inter-related, as long as they are all included in your piece. They are three separate elements.

Thank-you, Teresa.

By the way, I have now read and replied to absolutely everything in my inbox - until Sunday!! - so thank-you to everyone. Phew!

Did anyone else see this in the Daily Mail today?

"Booktrust has just launched a national writing competition for those who have served six decades on this planet. Booktrust is seeking short stories of upto 750 words on 'The Letter I Wish I had Written' "

There are no more details in the article, which was written by Allison Pearson, so it could be worth looking up if you are over 60. Good luck everyone!

Damn I'm a decade short lol.

I saw it on BBC Breakfast yesterday morning. I think it's great. It's never to late to start writing.

Yes I saw it and tried to find details on the web site but couldn't find anything. Think she told us half a story.

I just looked at www.bookbite.org.uk and you can download an entry form. There is also another competition that we could all enter, including you, Teresa, lol, to write 750 words on "My Story."

I think I might give it a go, this first prize is £500, the other one is £100.

Who's up for it?

Darn it, I think this one might be only for over 60's, too. I'm going to email them to find out.

Actually, I'm about to subscribe to the WritingMagazine. Been getting it for a couple of years now, but as a subscriber I can enter certain competitions. Might be worth a look too, see what's what.

They also run comps in Writers' Forum magazine, which really is an excellent magazine, including a poetry workshop.

Sheesh I should get commission lol
