We will always find you LOL

YG Report 7 May 2010 21:13

Evening LG!! Do we have to pay to talk to you now you have the nice new bathroom!! Bet you've got some red & white in there!!

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 7 May 2010 21:17

Not a scrap of red and white in sight unless I am using my Arsenal towel to wrap my hair in after washing it LOL.

Clour scheme is Aqua and White. Office is all in Red and White though and loads of accesories including the famous flag LOL

YG

YG Report 7 May 2010 21:32

I'm impressed!!

That you have resisted temptation!!

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 7 May 2010 22:17

Well it's just for now who knows in the future LOL

AuntySherlock

AuntySherlock Report 7 May 2010 22:42

Oh goodness gracious. I read that last LG comment as

In the future I might not like Arsenal so I might not need my bathroom in red and white. Then I pinched myself really hard, ouch, and worked out LG was saying she might, in the future, paint the bathroom red and white.

Phew!! And the world rocked back onto its axis again.

I can not believe your transport costs. We can buy a day tripper pass and go any where on bus, train or tram for very little cost. We also have two hour tickets which we can use in any way within a two hour limit. And if you are of geriatric age and have a senior's pass you don't pay to travel on public transport anytime.

I am reformed!!! Sitting here thinking I have abused my poor digestive system enough. Now I have to do something about returning to the healthy eating. You will note I said I am thinking about it.

I have managed to persuade the family not to take me out to breakfast/lunch tomorrow. It is our Mother's Day. Every eating establishment has mothers, nannas, grannies, aunties and every other type of female type relatives crammed in like sardines. The noise level is terrible, they are accompanied by a horde of rampaging children and the eating establishments are usually short of staff and the waiting for the meal legendary.

Thanks but no thanks. You may take me out somewhere quiet pleasant spacious and expensive next weekend. When the rush is over and I can feel treasured and pampered. Not to mention be able to hear the family gossip and have a meal in a reasonable time frame.

And anyway footy is on late tomorrow afternoon and as we are going for the first win of the season I need to be calm and collected so I can scream very loudly at my favourite team of no hopers.

YG

YG Report 7 May 2010 22:51

And they are trying very hard to get everyone to use public transport Aunty!!

No chance!! The fares are horrendous, and although I only live three miles away from work, I would have to take two buses. It costs £1.50 to travel two stops on the second bus!!

You can buy slightly cheaper day return tickets/weekly/monthly passes but they are still very expensive.

i have a bus pass, but it can't be used until 9.30am

They have caused months of turmoil building bus lanes and in doing so removing two lanes for cars. Taxis can use the bus lanes too, but only black cabs, not private hire taxis!

In other words >>>>>>>>>>> a total stuff-up, so I will carry on driving!!

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 7 May 2010 23:11

I'll stick to my car methinks. I have trouble getting on and off buses anyway.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 7 May 2010 23:24

As YG says, public transport is expensive, and unless you live in a metropolis, rather erratic. Hence my one an hour then a gap when they had lunch (perhaps). Even the train fares have gone up in the SE way over the cost of inflation this year, when they can't use the cost of fuel as an excuse. It's cheaper to fly to say, Edinbrugh from the SE, than it is to catch the train. Ridiculous.

Anyway. What is done, is done.

Hope you have a more successful footie match tomorrow than you have the last few weeks. Then you really will have something to celebrate when you get pampered.

What's the betting some one will sneak in a red and white rubber duck for LG's spiffing new bathroom?

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 7 May 2010 23:26

LOL DET Ava has got a red and white duck I will have to 'Borrow it' LOL

RockyMountainShy Report 8 May 2010 00:28

be glad you don't live in Alberta, They are still having heavy snow and high winds (95km) my Brother was saying they were lying in bed and you could feel in house shaking. Coming home from work he wouldn't get up the hills, because of the slippery roads. Being the nice sister that I am, I sent him a picture of our garden, flowers, green leave on the trees. of course taken on a day when the sun was shining and no clouds.
He coming over on the Victoria Day long weekend, just to get warm.

AuntySherlock Report 8 May 2010 00:58

Hi You lot. Yes they are trying to entice people to public transport but the fares have been reasonable for a long time. I am having a sitting in my 'jamas working on my family history this morning. Then I need to go shopping and do some washing.

I have just made a really exciting discovery. Are you lot familiar with the Docklands Ancestors Parish Registers. Well, I have lots of matches in those registers. About six months ago I found one name, made note of the details and put it in my tree. I baulked at paying the fee to look at the details. Its about 3 pound something in your money.

Today I went and had a look again and couldn't find the same entry. So I just put in the family name, and came up with 13 matches from about 1834 to 1852. Decided to pay for the additional information for my one rellie, put in the details, clicked on the button and I now have the information for all 13 of the matches. What a wonderful bonus. They are all baptisms and include Mother and father's names child's name date of birth and baptism and the father's occupation. Whoo hoo!!

RMS We are approaching our snow season soon. No we will not be having any of that stuff in my area. It only falls in the Victorian highlands and Tasmania. Both are places where no sensible thinking person ever goes.

For us winter means temperatures of between -2 on really bad days and about 15C on fair days, lots of rain and wind and miserable conditions.

i have just made a wonderful rescue of a starling Gizmo is not amused the starling got away but my kitchen is covered in feathers

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 8 May 2010 09:26

Morning all. -- how very naughty of Gizmo, but I suppose he is only following his instincts. What a mess to be greeted with, and only one week to the Big Day!

Interesting site Aunty. Most of my direct line are in the LMA records on Ancestry. If any of yours came from Poplar/Isle of Dogs, you might want to have a look at this community site my second cousin discovered.
www.islandhistory.org.uk
One elderly gentleman remembers my father as a boy!

Raining here as well today. Is the cold weather in Alberta usual for the time of year RMS? Not nice if it isn't. Perhaps they can ship some of their snow to ease your water shortage.

It's not just Arriva which is owned by a 'foreign' company. At least one of the Electicity supply companies is, possibly EON. And the Dartford Toll river crossing is owned/operated by the French. That's a bone of contention down here. When it was built, the special Act of Parliament said that it would be free to use once the costs had been recovered....not!

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 8 May 2010 09:27

Hello all, hope you are all well. I have never heard of that site either Aunty but will note it just in case as I have London rellies too and who knows where they may spring up LOL.

DET you made me jump creeping in like that whilst I was typing LOL

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 8 May 2010 09:31

Maz I will be one year nearer my bus pass within days but doubt if I could use one. Climbing on buses could prove difficult some days.
