*$parkling $andie* Report 21 Nov 2011 15:11

Hi~~~~

Been raining, my jacket is brill tho, waterproof, but doesn't make any water run down your legs like some do.

The men are doing next doors patio, looks like the same as ours, I thought the were having block paving.!
Hubby said that neighbour had commented on how tatty his now looked, his and ours had both been down for 20 yrs.
The men are going to change my chipped bricks tomorrow ,their boss was around trying to get me to have the whole patio sealed , On Friday they gave me a quote on £1.500, hubby said no way, today their boss has reduced it to £I.075 when I told him not paying that.

Hubby cracked up laughing when I told him he had reduced it so much.
It is a large area, patio at back, long driveway and parking space for cars at the front. Still not having it done. You have to bargain with these people.
The workmen are great and done a lovely job, but 1 or 2 aren't cut properly and we didn't notice it straight away.
The one guy is from Glos he is the layer, he's good as gold , but he wasn't the one that did the cutting, but he is going to sort it for me.
He's the best of the bunch.

Gone all misty here now :)

Hi~~~~
Hope everyone's OK
Dau put a load of washing on before she went to work.. white towels ( she is dreadful for keeping them in her own washing basket ),so I duly put it on the line, put my second load in , then had a knock on the door from the workmen next door saying they would be cutting tiles and there would be dust flying around. They are considerate guys, so it was good of them to tell me before they started, tho I would have heard the noise and noticed the dust once they had.
Now have 2 loads to dry and it's a bit gloomy here ! Tumble dryer or heating will have to be the answer., both I think. Just as well hubby's not here. He hates clothes on rads
He's has gone to North Wales to help his bro with his house move.

Easter Bunny Report 27 Nov 2011 19:14

same here Maz, I haven't known gales this bad for a long time.Hope it settles down tonight.
Some little no mark stole our wheel trims.Dogs were barking lots because of next doors gates keep slamming and stuff blowing around in the wood yard out the back to us. Wouldn't mind but I was awake nearly all night as not been well.

*$parkling $andie* Report 27 Nov 2011 23:08

Late evening folks~~~

Weather was rather wild here too , my earlier plan of putting the heavy ceramic urn planter of my nan's against the wheelie bin stopped it blowing over ( it's not even half full at the mo )
I'd put bricks around the strawberry plants hubby had planted out in pots but 2 of them blew over ,they're OK.
It's hateful when some one steals your property Paula, such a violation that they have been close to your house.I remember when someone stole the spot lights off our car parked right outside our front door on the drive. I felt physically sick to my stomach.
We didn't have Sandy then, cos he would have alerted us if some one was outside the door.
Some sad peeps about. Son has those plastic 'strings' on his wheel hubs.. I know they could cut them , but it's a bit of a deterrent ,the others cars have alloys...It would be an insurance claim if they nicked those !!!
Hope you choice a nice set in replacement...call it an extra extra Xmas pressie...and the thieves get they comeuppance !

Morning folks~~

We seem to have little frog on the thread ;-)
This physio is making my knee and thigh worse, but they it does that before it gets better..hope so.
Hubby has ordered a new phone which has to be signed for ,so I can't go out cos it due to be delivered today. It's rather wet anyway, tho I don't mind walking in the rain.
Dau is off work, (I can't rely on her to sign for phone),she's has gone out, buying clothes.. I suspect, she is going to see Rhianna in Birmingham tonight in concert.
Hubby and dau will on this Council Union strike tomorrow, so I won't have 'me time' :-( ...................which I enjoy

Hope everyone is OK.

Hi all~~

Don't like the new BBC homepage,:-| even my 'experts' had probs changing it back to my location .. it defaults to London :-|
Done hopefully now !
Hubby and dau are both home today cos of the strike.
Hubby wouldn't cross a picket line. Not sure if dau is in the union , after driving to and fro the concert in Birmingham she didn't get home til about 3am this morning, so she was glad of the day off !

Easter Bunny Report 30 Nov 2011 15:52

hello, Gary has been on strike today. He spent the morning on the picket line but came home at lunch time.It is Rochelles day off today anyway so at least she won't lose a days pay. It's almost dark here already. more like winter than autumn, although I suppose December arrives tomorrow lol. I wonder if we will have a white Christmas this year?
By the way $andie, our wheel trims were fastened on with those ties but if the thieves are determined a little thing like that won't stop them.Think we will wait a good while before replacing them as the same thing will probably happen :-(

*$parkling $andie*

*$parkling $andie* Report 30 Nov 2011 20:28

There are some nasty little so and so's about, to go to the 'trouble' of slicing off the plastic ties on a wheel trim, their knife probably cost as much as the trims...they do take a fair bit of cutting thro. We had to replace two of ours, it took a while even with a Stanley knife. But then they still have the knife to use another day :-(
Shame you don't have CCTV..we don't.., but it's terrible that you have to pay out to protect your property. We have an alarm system..we couldn't use it when we had Sandy cos he would set it off.. he was alarm enough tho. He was a lab cross, small but had the bark of a large dog..if any one came near the house. Once I told him it was OK he was fine . Gas men and leccy men used to back off when I opened the door .. after hearing him bark cos he would run straight to the door and be by my side .I'd tell him to wait and when I was sure they were who they were just tell him to 'go and lie'.. he'd keep and eye on them whilst they where in the house tho,. He was a rescue dog.. he was brill with men he knew, and great with all kids. I assume he was abused and thrown out by a male before we had him. Some saddo ! :-|
