My sneaky feeling was wrong again - thank goodness.

Good decision, by the British public and the Judges.

Chris and Ola are inspiring. She is such a great dancer anyway and Chris has made vast improvements. He tries so hard, dances his little socks off, and is entertaining to watch. Gives me the real feel good feeling.

Keep it up Chris and Ola.

Really enjoyed the show last night, things are starting to hot up!
I thought Anton & Lalia would be voted off,she makes too many mistakes.
Chris just gets better and better and his rapport with Ola makes them very watchable.
I do like Ricky (phoar lol ) but still sticking to my faves......Ali & Brian, but just wish in her Latin she would,as Len says, "get down and dirty", imo that's all she's lacking really!

I absolutely love Vincent and Flavia dancing Tango, especially the Argentine....breathtaking!

Keeeep dancing............:O)

Mau, I too loved Vincent dancing the Argentinian Tango. I think he did it last year. Brilliant little mover.

Enjoyed the show tonight and had everything crossed for Chris and Ola ! Pleased to see that they went through. I must admit that both Ricky and Ali are better ancers (and I suppose it IS a dance competition) but for an all-round package, give me Chris an Ola every time. She naturally is brilliant but Chris has made great strides since the beginning of the competition. tries his hardest every week, takes all the criticism on board, never moans about the judges critique or marks, and is entertainment personified on the floor. My only criticism of him would be the faces he pulls because of being so tense around the jaw... probably nerves or deep concentration !! However, I would be surprised if he got any further as the judges all seem to prefer Ali and Ricky and have made that clear from the start. Well done to all three couples who have got this far. Not particularly looking forward to a 2 people final which will probably be Ricky an Ali but am really anticipating the Christmas special. Just hope it lives up to expectations !!

Dear Midlands Margaret, I endorse everything you have said in your post.. I really enjoy watching Chris and Ora, though I have to agree about the others.
It really makes my Saturday night (dreams of far af days when I was on the dance floor, but wow, I wish we had had the dresses in those days that they have now. My OH would salivate more than he does now) But lets keep it clean.LOLOL

Just been watching It Takes Two (the strictly off-shoot) and Darcy, Alisha and Bruno were on discussing the dancers etc. and then Claudia said she had an announcment to make to the viewers - apparently there is NO DANCE-OFF this coming Saturday. The judges will mark as normal and then the public vote will be added to that. I did think at first that she meant no one going this week making a 3 person final, but I am not so sure now exactly what she meant. I am presuming that as it is being left 'to the piblic vote' that someone will ineed go, but it will take the final decision away from the judges. Thought you might like to know this latest development.

Just watched It takes two on i player and heard the news. Also on the Strictly website is the following statement,

NEWS: No dance-off in the Semi-Final. The couple with the lowest combined score from the public and judges will leave the contest.

Well girls I think we will be spending a few pennies voting for our Chris and Ola this week.

just off to look at the forum.

I watched takes two and heard the news.

Will be saving my pennies to vote. Especially as the public vote is now more important.

It is a two-parter again on Saturday (just checked the Radio Times).

The blurb for the 6.45 show says "The remaining celebrities strut their stuff for a place in next week's grand final. Discover who has made the grade in the results show at 9.30pm"

The 9.30 blurb includes "Nerves are frayed as the result of the public vote is revealed"....
no mention of a Dance Off, so looks like this had been deceided some time ago.

How exciting!

I suppose it will also mean that a lot more people will vote, so more money going somewhere.

Forgot to say Chris and Ola have my vote/s.

I feel that he represents "everyman" in fact it feels that he is part of the family.

Anyone got any Hollins in their tree?

Margaret Report 12 Dec 2009 20:15

Hi Ladies - well anyone watch the show tonight ? I enjoyed my favourites - Chris an Ola - and thought that once again they were undermarked !! I concede that both Ali and Ricky are better dancers but how can the judges criticise Ali's nerves affecting her performance, point out that she went wrong an STILL award her full marks ? And Ricky, did a great job, but oh the supposedly NON-biased judges telling him and the tv audience that justice must be done and he should be in the final. I THOUGHT that apart from a general critique they were supposed to be NEUTRAL ! Job well done Len and Bruno . I would suggest that for the next series they look up the word unbiased and make a concerted effort to unerstand what it means and abide by it. Real shame it is a 2 person final - I can't get quite as excited about it as I would for a 3 person one. Ah well, that's life.

O M G .....I'm soo disappointed my favourites have been voted off!! Ali & Brian were by far the best dancers..and I did love Ricky and Natalie too......popularity has won Chris a place in the final!
Ricky and Natalie should win .........but will they??

Must say I loved the show and the specialist show dancers were fantastic weren't they? he was throwing her about like a doll lol, what fitness! and also Darcey and Ian's dance was spectacular!

I love seeing Darcy dance but wasn't she fabulous tonight.
Chris to win

TessAkaBridgetTheFidget

TessAkaBridgetTheFidget Report 12 Dec 2009 23:23

Have mixed feelings about tonight's result.

I did vote (just once) for Chris and Ola, because Chris was a complete non-dancer at the start. He has given every effort to learn the steps, routines etc. and for the most part has done well.

Although I enjoyed Ricky and Natalie's waltz, I thought that Ricky looked a little off balance a couple of times, he also seemed to be leaning forward (just a little), so I thought he was overmarked.

It was a shame that one couple had to go, making it only a three couple final. Much better, I think, with three couples in the final.

Ali did well and must be disappointed to be out.

I thought that the Rumba was not the right dance for Chris and Ola to choose, maybe a different dance would have gained tthem more points.

I thought that the Special "dance" was spectacular, but would have liked to see more dance moves and less lifts, great viewing though.

Has anyone heard how Jade Johnson is doing? Is there any chance that she and Ian will be doing the Tango next week?

Margaret

Margaret Report 13 Dec 2009 13:18

No Theresa - not heard a word about how she is progressing. I hope all is going along nicely. I would hate to think that this injury has jeopardised her career. Maybe she will be a 'guest' on the final night or maybe the Christmas special ?

TessAkaBridgetTheFidget

TessAkaBridgetTheFidget Report 13 Dec 2009 14:54

Thanks Margaret,
Jade was getting to be one of my favourites before she was injured.

She not only learned to do the steps with grace, she also was able to "perform" the dances.
Adopting a different character for each dance. An amazing achievment for an athlete.

I hope that she is able to continue her athletic career. Obviously a lot more important than doing the Tango!
Would just be so pleasing if she can do both.

Teddys Girl Report 13 Dec 2009 15:03

Sorry to see Ali go,but I do really like Chris and Ola, as I think Ali had done some dancing, or had lessons when small. Chris a complete novice.
Don't know if Ricky and Natalia will win. You never know with the public.

As for the specialist dance, not much dancing just lifts, my husband who has been a gymnast., said it was more a gymnast performance than dancing, and I said yes more like in a circus.

I will get withdrawal symptoms after next week, what will I do on a Saturday night. I am not too keen on the Ice Dancing.

TessAkaBridgetTheFidget

TessAkaBridgetTheFidget Report 13 Dec 2009 19:33

Teddys Girl, good to find that I wasn't the only one that thpught that the "Specialist" Dance? last night was more like gymnastics. Great to watch, but NOT dancing.

I know that there are no rules in that section next week, but I hope to see at least some dance steps.

I am not so keen on the Ice Dancing, too nervous about people falling over, and sometimes some of the contestants look too nervous as well.

So don't know what I will chose to replace my Strictly fervour.

Ideas anyone?

Helen1959 Report 15 Dec 2009 20:17

hi Folks,
Well I enjoyed Saturdays show, I even enjoyed Ricky's dancing (now that's a first) Was dead chuffed that Chris and Ola have got into the final, I think that it will be a closely contested final with regard to the viewers votes, and I myself will be voting for Team Cola.

Keep Dancing.

Earlier this evening I was cock-a-hoop. Watched ITT tonight, Jade will be back on Saturday.

Then reality hit me ..... or should I say that my brain started to work?

My son is taking me and the grandsons to watch Avatar (sp) on Saturday afternoon, and then he is taking me to his house (which is about fifty miles away), for a few days.
Which means that I am going to miss the final!!!

My video recorder doesn't work, I don't understand iPlayer (or maybe I don't have one).
It seems that I am going to miss the final.

Enjoy it the rest of you. Just hope that I enjoy the film. It will be great to see the grandsons, so really I should be counting my blessings, but at the moment I am feeling a bit sorry for myself.

Helen1959 Report 18 Dec 2009 08:50

Oh Theresa, sorry to hear that you will miss Saturdays show, do you have virgin telly? If so then you can watch the show on demand for a week after the show has been played. If not could you not plead and bribe your son to let you watch it.
Hope you have a lovely time with the family.
