WELL!!!

Our Hayley has a lovely way of making a drama out of her uneventful journey, but mine was a real drama.

Now, the train I was booked on was the 9.30am from Norwich. It takes 20 mins to get there by bus, so I'm at the bus stop at 8.40am. 8.45am the bus duly turns up, more or less on time for a change, and I text Hayley to say I'm on my way too (she's already text to say she's on the train.)

15 minutes later and we're sitting on the bus at the top of the hill going nowhere. Bit busy I thought, must be the weather and the school holidays, why can't parent wait until after rush hour? (sorry parents). 10 minutes later and we've moved about 50ft, and I'm beginning to get worried. No traffic coming the other way, so maybe an accident at the roundabout, not surprising. 5 mins later I text Hayley 'Panic, I don't think I'll make the train!'

Text Back 'Stop that!'

Me 'Serious, stuck in traffic, not moving, burst watermain' By this time we can see the water board vans in the distance.

9.20, and we're not much further on, and I'm getting stressed.

9.25, stop being stressed, nothing I can do about it, will have to try and get the next one.

9.30 finally squeeze out of the bottleneck, get off bus a light fag first, then walk down the hill to the station as there is no sign of the station bus behind us, it could be ages.

Now, I bought some new sandals on monday. I'd been out on Tuesday in them to break them in and see if they rubbed. They did, big blister on top of left foot. I had it plastered and put some more in my bag. Half way to the station, plaster falls off, and sandal immediately scrapes blister off. Ouch. Sits on wall and replaces plaster hobbling rest of way to station.

Asks at the station what I can do, as it wasnt my fault I missed the train. 'Buy another ticket for the 10.00am, they said.' Gee thanks, that'll be £40.50 for a single. A passenger behind me was late for the same reason and tried to argue with them on both our behalf, but it was no go. (letter of complaint going in later)

Gets on train at last, arriving in London after a pleasant journey 2 hours later...rushes down to tube, train arrives, along with announcement 'Ladies and Gentlement, we apologise for any delay but there has been a signal failure. Service willbe resumed as soon as possible, we thank you for your patience'

I'm tearing my hair out by then, or as Hayley would say, my nevres were hanging out, can't get in touch as I'm underground..resigned to being late.

But eventually, at 12.30, with sore feet and frayed nerves, I was met by BC and Hayley, and after a short walk, given a wonderful lunch of fresh salmon, prawns, meatballs, salad, tomato mozzerella and basil salad and new potatoes, followed by a lemon roulade and wine a-plenty.

Along with Anita and Granny Mo, we laughed the afternoon away and time went by far too quickly.

Thank you BC, for a wonderful day, and for you-know-what which was bigger than I thought it was you naughty girl, and Hayley for the choccie and you-know-what. Mwahhhhh xx

I was worried when she had the knife in her hand at the window
The Bates Motel sprang to mind
My journey with my Freedom Pass cost nothing, and was very uneventful, and I arrived at Euston early,so was able to sit outside, have a ciggie or two and read my book for a while

I have to say, when Mo and Anita went with BC to take the poor little doggy for a walk, Hayley and I did what we were forbidden to do, we washed up. BC came back and told us both off and punished us by making us dance in the kitchen. :-))

Ooo it's lovely here. The roadworks are still there, so traffic is still in chaos, so glad I didn't have to go out today heheh

I am in bare feet, covered in plasters, and my feet were so sore last night that in spite of being exhausted by the time I got back, I just couldn't sleep. I ended up on the sofat with them hanging off the arm for a couple of hours lol. I sent OH to go and get the bread and milk..

As I predicted, the carriage I was booked on the way home, was right down the other end of the train, felt like miles, I was almost out of Liverpool street and on Stratford Station LOL.

I must say, the olympic stadium is coming on really well, last time I went past there the place looked like a quarry! Lots of new high-rise buildings at Stratford too, my Dad wouldn't recognise the place he was brought up now.
