It's about time the loopholes were closed with regards the upper age they will allow IVF worldwide.

i had my last baby at 22 and took in 10 more over the years
there is already so may unwanted and unloved children in this world
having babies is deffo a young persons game

I really think this lady is paying out lots of money on a wild goose chase, for a start she needs a donor for the egg, no doubt she will then need a sperm donor and even if she manages to go through with the birth, the poor child would then be brought up by, hopefully , a younger nanny. She could seriously damage her own health having the baby and then we will have an orphan child who has had absolutely no say in the matter, who would have no sense of identity, not good is it.?

I hope she thinks again and donates the money it is going to cost to a charity who looks after children born into poverty, rather than into the pocket of a doctor who should know better.

I have to add, I have no problem with couples who go in for IVF, everyone should have a chance of having a family, just not at that age.

You know I never could have children and to see this happening makes me wonder if this world could get any madder.

But I am 56 and if someone told me I could have a baby now, I wouldn't because its not right is it, babies are meant to be born to young women who have their lifetime ahead of them and are able to bring them up, alright there are exceptions to every rule, some have them really young, some have them after having a carreer and they have that right to choose....but 72...pleaseeeeee..

I believe that the menopause, in most, cases is the cut off point,
i.e. around 50. I know there are cases where the menopause is earlier and this would constitute 'special circumstances'.

I read that the mother who had twin boys when she was 68 died
a few weeks ago at the age of 71 with cancer. Who is bringing up these toddlers now I wonder.

Yes it seems that the treatment is having a bad effect on some of these "old "mums
More than one has died of breast cancer,as it highers the risk so much
I think there should be an age limit put on it

I believe its every womans right to want to have a child.

I especially feel for those who can't concieve, and those who have lost a child or children & yearn to have their arms filled once more.

But there should be an age limit treatment cut off point, say at 50 for those who are childless, and 45 for those who already have at least one living child.

Any further new cycles of treatment beginning after these ages should be made illegal.

They should also relax the adoption laws a bit regarding age, to open this possibility up to more people wanting families.

I agree, there should be a realistic cut of point for giving birth, there are always exceptions but come on, shouldn't the child be the important one in this and I'm not being rude but can you imagine the poor child having to be breast fed by her, could scar the child for life...no offence girls but can you?

If a young Mum dies there is usally a young parter, grandparents, maybe siblings that can all help with the upbringing. I would like to know who is bringing up the 3 year old twins of a 71 year old mother.

I honestly think that this woman must be insane. I can't imagine my mother being the mother of a 4 year old.

I was brought up by much older parents than my friends had
I hated it
Their ideas on everything were old fashioned
I was always the odd one out,in what I wore and what I was allowed to do
So they should think more about the effects this has on the child too

We're all mortal Island and yes mums do die young, my own SIL died at the age of 25 and left two little girls and we are rather a large family and did all we could to help my brother and my mum had to go get the children up for school before she left for work and it was hard but they are grown up with families of their own now.

I presume most of this lady's friends are around the same age as her as will be any siblings she may have, so my question is, who will care for this child if anything were to happen to the mother.

I'm sorry, it's totally wrong in my view.

Can you imagine her 'controlling' a boy of 16 when she is 88?

To be honest Island..no she hasn't and it may be a relevant point, I am sure there will be more media attention and someone will address this issue too.
