Keeping the Brits out, tut

You said I could be an honorary Aussie, so obviuosly you can't mean me.

I just had an email from an Aussie friend who was in Bah humbug mood, just because they didn't win some cricket match or other!

Ok Linda - I forgot I said you could be an honorary Aussie. What cricket match would that be I wonder?

North Yorkshire is indeed a lovely area of the country, (I have pm'd you my exact location). The whole of Yorkshire is indeed God's own county. My OH was so proud of his Yorkshire roots, he was horrified when I did his tree and discovered that his ancestors all came from down south, Berkshire to be exact, I don't think he has ever gotten over the shock

SueMaid Report 14 Jul 2009 09:47

I can understand that Linda. My mum thought she was a West Yorkshire girl through and through and was so proud of it. I discovered that her maternal line was from Devon and her grandmother was born in London. We went to the village where her great grandmother was born and she felt no connection at all. I did but I think that doing the family research gives you that connection.

Born in Australia and have a second fleeter as an ancestor. Latest to arrive was in 1860 as a convict.

Distant rellies have migrated to South Australia in the late 1800's and then nobody as far as I can see until Mum, Dad and little me arrived in 1956.

Ok another question my Aussie friends. Born here or migrated as a child or adult? I know Allan came over in 1982 but what about the rest of you.

Me, my parents and three grandparents were born in Australia. Fourth g/parent and earlier generations all born in England.

My OH was born in Liverpool and emigrated in his twenties, so our children are slightly more than 50% Pom.
