I was often on the back of a motorcycle in my younger years. The group of friends I had were very keen on them and a weekend often included an outing to a picnic area. OH had a little motorscooter when we first met but that was for work and we went out in a car. I don't think my parents were overly keen on me going out on a bike so they were relieved when I met OH although I was only 17.

Those day's were sad one's Allan when being on the wrong bike could have got you beaten up, it was a bit before my time but my older sibling's talked about the day's of Mod's and Rocker's. My youth was the Skin Head's who could be just as violent if you wern't in the right area, we had different coloured hankies in our pocket's for different area gang's.

Sorry I went off to answer the phone and then got side tracked by supper.

I am not going on any cruise if there are cigarettes around, I can't stand the things, but you can still have the brandy Allan

Diane, I suppose the subcultures have always been around.

I just find it amazing that for youths who reject the idea of uniforms they still seem to wear some type of similar clothing to identify themselves to each other.

Hello I'm back,
I had a Lambretta scooter before I joined the MN, but there was either something wrong with me, or the scooter, because I seem to remember I frequently got thrown off when taking a sharp corner.
Great fun though,

Tec

No cigars either Allan, sorry but i am not at all tolerant when it comes to my inability to breathe in a smoky atmosphere.

Was Spooks good Tec?

Anyway I am off to bed now,so behave yourselves and I hope that I do not need to fumigate this thread in the morning

I think the scooter was probably fine Tec, it was possibly the alcohol that was the problem

Allan I find it amusing that a group of young people near where we live think they are all individual and unique.....and are all dressed in black from head to toe, with black hair, lips and fingernails. I have to admit they "do" the look very well and are quite an art form. I often talk to one of the mums and she said her son is such a good lad and works hard at school because he wants to go to university so she doesn't care what he looks like. Well if they can't dress like that in their teens when can they? When we were in Blackpool last year we were amazed at the sight of some punks - they looked fantastic.

Goodnight Linda, sleep well, keep warm.
By the way, I didn't know what alcohol was until I went to sea - then I made up for it - I seem to recall my Aussie friends introduced me to serious consumption.

Sue, I remember Flower Power- San Francisco and all that scene, colourful outfits or what?
I think your neighbourhood teens in black are what are known as "Goths" meaning Gothic

Allan, I always made sure to fall off to attention, and saluting as I went.

Have you thought what dastardly deeds we can commit while Sue's away?
We must make the most of our freedom,
