Hello Persephone - I'm here. I pop in between doing other things. Looks like I should have popped in last night, as the thread was quite busy! and all the less to read to catch up! Sometimes I take so long to catch up with the thread in the morning, that by the time I do get to the newest posts, they're asking "where's Berona?". |

I would be very busy if I did all this knitting! Seems that quite a few want bed socks and now Tec wants me to add to the nightcap he ordered! I told him I was making it very long so that he can wrap it around his neck to keep warm - and he wants me to make socks that come up to meet it!!...I just hope he isn't very tall! |

Hello Carole...That's a good way to use FB but from what I've seen, some people deserve to get into strife with it. I wonder why it is necessary to collect lots and lots of 'friends'. Must be some loneliness somewhere. |

Hello, ladies. Just nipped in while the potatoes are cooking. It's warm here too but quite pleasant. I'll pop in later. |

Oh dear, you've just reminded me! When I first came to live here, I had three littlies (with mum in the background) knock on my door. Luckily, I had some sweets and offered them some. |

I went all out one year Berona and had heaps - but there were all these older teens that kept turning up wanting some, not just the littlies. I had bought way too many as well and yep each time I went past the piano where they were sitting I would just have one (they were those mini chocolate bars). Trouble was I was going past the piano an awful lot. |

I've had no-one knock at my door this evening. I guess there's time yet. I just made up a few bags with sweets. We'll have to eat them I guess. No point in giving them to my daughter - she doesn't allow the children much in the way of sweets. Little Mr Three fills up on rubbish if you let him then won't eat meals. Sounds normal to me but his mum worries about it. |

Fireworks are banned here for private use, Persey. Well in NSW anyway. I can see the point but I remember lovely Bonfire Nights when the street would get together and we would pool our fireworks, bring eats and drinks and the men would safely let off the fireworks to the delight of the kids. All done safely by some but not by others. |

We have a street get together once a year here - where we get to say hello to new neighbours etc and then we make up a new contact sheet for everyone - sort of a neighbourhood watch. Of course it is a barbie night with salads etc and everybody has a good time, even the sandflies. |

Our Cracker Night used to be 24th May - Empire Day - but when we no longer celebrated that, it was moved to the Queen's Birthday - celebrated in June. This was more to make it colder and uninviting - but it didn't stop the bonfires. Then the sale of fireworks was banned altogether because they became too dangerous - although anyone driving past Canberra seemed to be able to buy some somewhere! |

It's been nice talking to you ladies. However, it is almost time for The Bill and since my DVD recorded is not working, I have to go and watch it - and hope I don't nod off! |
