Linda...there is no way that he will go to the dentist..!! dentist visits have changed over the years when I went as a child it was a long train trip to get there and the nerves were terrible...i am fine now and go regularly..My kids have dentist at their school so they have check ups probably more frequently then what i did and they are not bothered at all. I remember my Mum being told off as she had given me a packet of crisps before hand...What funny things I remember...:)
Another lovely day today Allan...:))) hope it doesn't get too hot too soon...my air con isn't working :((

Rain stopped play. I changed the order I was going to do things because it looked like it was going to rain. So I went to the allotment and collected the veg first. Just as I was coming back, it started to rain really hard. No doubt OH is sheltering in the greenhouse. I was going to plant up the hanging basket because I can do that in the garage, but I can't find the thing anywhere. OH took it down last week and emptied out the summer plants, but goodness knows where he has put it. Of course he has left his mobile phone here,so I can't ring him to ask.
Carole the spices depend on the type of curry, but ere usually based around cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, cumin, coriander, nutmeg, turmeric; not forgetting the chillis and fresh ginger of course. I have a couple of very good Indian cook books which have lots of very good side dishes in as well as the main curries.

Good Afternoon Brits, Good Evening Aussies that have insomnia,
Linda....... I laughed when I read your post earlier. You were planning to go to the allottement. (that looks wrong) anyway, at the time the weather here was horrendous, there was a gale blowing , and rain coming horizontally in sheets off the mountain. I think we are sending the Welsh weather your way, so watch out.
My OH is a little better - she had a better night, and I did get some sleep. Like your SIL they have never got things sorted out in 20 years. The medical care of diabetics here is appalling, almost non existant. So it is down to self management and common sense. She is meticulously careful with diet, watching intake of carbohydrates. Has been told to put on some weight as she is hovering around eight and a half stone, but that in itself is difficult when you have to constantly be careful what you eat.
I didn't know you could make up your own curry powder, but thinking about it logically, why not?
Well, things to do - I am not usually on here in the afternoon, but as the weather is foul, I can't work outside, and as OH is curled up on the sofa fast asleep, I can't go banging about the house either. So I will disappear into the kitchen and see what wondrous things I can invent for dinner. Who knows? it might even be edible.

Thank you for sending us your weather Tec, it has been raining hard for the last couple of hours.
OH turned up just after I posted and managed to remember where he has stashed the empty hanging basket, so I replanted it. I had bought enough plants to do the other three pots I have for winter colour and as I was already wet from my walk back from the allotment, I thought that I might as well just finish the job. I was well and truly soaking by the time I finished, but nothing that a nice hot shower couldn't fix.
The curry was excellent, if I say so myself. We have had to eat early tonight because we are on cinema duty. I would prefer just to snuggle up and keep warm, rather than have to go out in this filthy weather, but when you make a commitment to voluntary work, you have to keep it.
I am glad that your wife is a bit better Tec. My SIL is her own worst enemy really. She also suffers from depression,so doesn't have the strength to manage her diabetes properly She doesn't eat enough during the day because she can't be bothered to make anything. My poor brother comes home after working all day and has to set about making a meal for both of them because she can't do it..

Linda..........I am intriqued - Cinema Duty? What does that entail?
Are you an usherette? with a torch, and a natty little hat, selling ice creams during the intermission?
Do you play piano while Pearl White gets tied to the railway track?
Are you in the Box Office selling tickets - was it you who wouldn't let me in because I wasn't old enough to see an "A" CERT film?
Are you the projectionist who panics when the reel breaks, and those numbers come up 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 , and everyone boos and hisses, and stamps their feet until it's fixed?
Not nosy - just curious

goodevening/morning all up to now I have just sneezed 6 time's, hate it when you have sneezing fit's. Well you have all been so busy since I left last night I can't remember who said what lol
Barbra I do remember you saying how you used to be a carer and how the agency got £12-00 but you were only paid £5-25p, that's how all the agency's work. The rest of the money they get goe's on the wages they pay staff for admin cost and their wages and also thing's like insurance they have to pay for their employer's and National Insurance contribution's and last but not least they have to pay Employer's Tax. I know all this because my Employer's mum has to pay NI and Tax contribution's on behalf of her Son, because as my Employer he has to pay this.
S*xy Spec's how did you get on at the optician's today hun
Linda I think it is great you make your own curry's I don't cook curry enough to be so adventious.(sp )
Carolee, well what can I say, you only have to look at the Author's name to know it is going to be a good read lol.
Tec, I'm glad OH had a better night, and I hope you managed to get some rest yourself hun
Barbra, I know what you mean hun but it's not a case of being a soft touch, Firstly God love him my Employer is the disabled son and not his mum so he himself isn't able to make demand's on me, as he is mentally as well as physicly disabled, and as with agency's like you worked for , if you were off sick the agency would provide some-one else to stand in for you, because I am employed without this kind of back-up I am unable to get a replacement in to do the job when I am unable too.It is like when you have a cleaner ( not through an agency ), if that cleaner is unable to come one week you have to do without, well I am employed the same way ( more or less ) If I was uncareing and acted as this is just my job I would demand my time off as is my right, but the thing is the family are like friend's not just employer so in a way this is my downfall and I suppose my own fault.
Hi Sue, just makeing sure you don't think I have forgotten you hun lol

Good Morning/Evening Everyone
Thank you Sue, yes we seem to have got OHs diabetes under control, but now she seems to have some kind of bug, just generally unwell really, which is maybe what sent her BSL doing silly things. Anyway we'll soldier on, and I'll just have to wear the nurses hat a bit longer. Hope your weather is better than ours, awful here, it would be very difficult keeping three little ones cooped up in the house all day. Have they worn you out yet? Supergran. Enjoy them, I know they make you laugh.
Hello Pat in Devon........how are you?
Diane.........If you're going to keep sneezing please move away from the screen, it's nice to share I know, but some things are best kept to yourself. Hope you are ok - I'm only teasing

Hi, Tec. Hope the Duchess's bug clears up quickly. The miserable weather doesn't help. Sorry to rub it in but it's lovely here. We had a break from the children yesterday as they were at nursery. Their other grandparents picked them up, fed and bathed them and by the time we came back the little ones were ready for bed.

Glad you had a little break Sue, some time to catch your breath. We have three little boys that live nearby, ages 3 -5 and 7. They like to visit us, all three stand in front of me and all talk at once, they have so much to tell me. When they've gone my head is spinning, but they are great kids, and a lot of fun.

Good Morning Janet, I hope your son is feeling better today, the rash must be driving him mad. Is it hot where you are? That wouldn't help. I don't know about being a good nurse - I do my best, and she survives somehow, despite me. Hope the guys do a good job on the fence - watch em!

Hi Jan, sorry to hear your son's not well, hope he is better soon, good luck with the fence and hope they do a good job on it for you.
Sue it must have been good to have a short break form the little one's, no matter how good they are it can still tire you out keeping up with them. When my daughter's 3 girl's were little ( 1,2,and 5 ) it was bedlum at time's and I used to sigh with relief when they all went home especially on boxing day when they used to come with all their pressy's to show me what Father Christmas had brought them. lol
