I like red wine but it doesn't like me, give's me a thick head so I keep to dry white, have had a go in the past at makeing my own, one that I left bottled for over 12mths was a mind blower, I would love to have done an alcohol level on it.

Oh dear Berona, you really drew the short straw there.

You can stand the SAS down Allan

Good Morning, Berona, it's good to see that you are keeping your brain active!

The conversation was probably much better that trying to do a crossword puzzle....or was it a crossed word puzzle?

I'll let the SAS know that they aren't required

Oh dear Berona, have a glass of wine hun I think you need a few.
Hope all the effort was worth it, get some-one else to do it next time if it's needed.

Diane,

I used to make my own wine when I lived in the UK: there was a beautiful Rose Petal Wine and I once made some pea pod wine. This could only be consumed in winter as for some reason it seemed to make you very warm.

I also made one batch of elderflower champagne, no yeast was used, just cider vinegar: the hangover hit about two minutes after the first sip!

Oh speaking of active brains, there was an article in today's Sunday Times about research which shows that older people who do internet searches using google for instance have far better brain function than those who don't use computers. It is far better than reading
So there we are,we will all stay sane until the end

Allan - I would rather do a crossword puzzle any day!

Diane - if I'd had any wine in the house, it would be gone by now - any colour!

Linda - you have given me hope there. Maybe I should have googled something on "how to speak to a foreigner in their language without really knowing it". It might have helped. Anything would have helped!

One thing I know - I will prepare the straws next time!!

Just doing a bit of research and found out that an ancestor was a forger

Apparently he forged five pound notes and made big money...

..That was how he was caught: the notes were an inch too big!

I can see Allan's in fine form this morning. Must have met that lady on his walk!

Hello Tec - had to go back a couple of pages to find you. I thought you were missing! Hope all is well with you.

I am not sure we should be hob nobbing with criminals.

OH had a convict transported to Van Diemans land in 1841. of course as I am only related to OH by marriage, my genes are not tainted

Allan

Allan Report 18 Oct 2009 23:20

Almost a case of tainted money...

'taint mine and 'taint yours

Berona if I did something like that, I'd still draw the short straw with my luck. The only way I wouldn't would be to cheat.

Pity, you can't learn by your ancestors mistakes Allan and get the notes the correct size. we could all go on that cruise then.

It is late so I am off to bed now, sleep well or have a good day everyone

Allan

Barbra

my main vice is wine, although I also enjoy a good single malt whisky.

I used to smoke but gave that away when my son was born 33 years ago

Linda - that's a laugh. You not wanting to hob nob with criminals and you post on an Australian thread! Don't you know that most of us who have been here for more than two or three generations, are likely to have a crim in their background?

I was disappointed when I could only find a gr/gr/uncle who had been sent to Tasmania for seven years for stealing a brass tap. That was the closest I could find and I was disappointed. I wanted to be directly descended from him, not his sister.
