Goodnight Tec - and to Mrs. Tec too. Sleep well.
Haven't contributed much because my first bootup was OK and I was using it - but the fonts went mad and I could only fit half a page on the screen - so I have just re-booted - and everything's fine!
My baby brother was born when I was 12 1/2, and my Mum had a beautiful trousseau for him. She did lovely needlework and I did the knitting. I then saved some of the patterns for when I had a baby of my own - which didn't happen for another seventeen years - so out camethe patterns and I happly knitted away for my own trousseau. BUT - by the time my babies came along - baby boys no longer wore dresses or carrying coats and bonnets, and I had knitted all these lovely clothes! Not only did I have a boy - I had three of them! - but not all at once1. I put the knitted clothes on them in the house, but dressed them as 'boys' when I went out. Then, by the time my girl arrived, the clothes had that hand-me-down look and I was too busy knitting sweaters for the boys to knit baby clothes!
My daughter is like you say, Sue. She didnt want much in the way of knitted garments because of the hand-washing - just a couplle of going-out jackets - and again, plain ones because she had two boys. I was able to do a pretty pattern on a couple for her girl, but that's all she wanted

With relatively inexpensive clothes in the stores now it often seems pointless to sew clothes. I made most of my children's clothing until they reached their teens and wanted shop bought. My daughter was looking through some old photos and made a comment about the lovely little frocks I made for her. I think I would like to sew again for my grand-daughter as she is such a feminine little girl and my daughter dresses her like a little girl not a tiny teenager.

I used to Knit - my first born had lots of hand knitted garments. My mother was known as a knitter and she used to sit there and watch the soaps and knit away for hours. She was also a sewer as were a lot of her family, her mother used to make the blouses with the Leg of Mutton (Tec) sleeves.
My father's sister was noted for her crocheting and there is many a time one of us has got tangled up in her crochet threads that were lying around. I would embroider and she would do the crochet edging for me. Now have a cupboard full of embroidered bric a brac which gets very little use.
One day I will have a go at Quilting - have the books and my Doctor's receptionist makes some beauties.
Triplets - well done - Congratulations Uncle and Auntie Tec. Does one get a triple back pack or have two on the back and one on the front - and then there will be the perambulator outings that you and your good lady wife can venture forth on.
Someone over here was commenting on their triplets born the other day and all identical. The husband jokingly said maybe they could have a tattoo each. My cousins - twin boys (well they are over 60 now) - are completely different one looks like the mother's side and the other the father's side.
Off to take husband for a check up to see how the operation on his foot went. He had it done on the 7th and now is the time for plaster and bandage to come off. We have had some hillarious performances in the bathroom keeping it dry.
Cheers

Hi Allan, Berona, Colin, Linda, Persey, SueMaid and Tec (and anyone else)
Colin, I'm not sure about the Stay Beautiful being on Acropolis Now, I do recall that whoever said it, the other person would say some witty comment, but can't remember that either. So much for my grey matter!
I'm suprised the guys haven't started calling you Madam Berona - Berona! I hope your interview went/goes well SueMaid. Persey, hope hubby's foot is all good. I come from sheep cockies as well - he must be a good bloke! I'm sure my fellow Pisces Allan has lovely shaped legs and would look beaut in a maid's uniform. Great news Tec about your nephew and your contact. And, of course, Linda, I'm thinking of you and am pleased that at least one of us on this thread has smooth legs!
Site is jumping again, so I'm going to go and feed my face.
Stay beautiful!! (I know I will - cough cough)

Hi Carole - good of you to drop in - but come back and talk to us when you can, will you?
Alison. You might be right about my title. Since I am to be Tec's Official Advisor, perhaps I should be addressed as "Madam". tI has such a nice and refined 'ring' to it, doesn't it? - although it does make me think of Ethel Merman.
My goodness!!! It's raining!!! WOW!

Hello again, I'm back!!!
Hi Berona, we have been having rain too, last night it rained nearly all night... I love those nights where you lie in bed and listen to the rain, we have a tin roof, so it is really soothing. As my children are on School hol's at the moment, I may not be able to drop in as much:( not only that we are busy doing day trips but as they are home they like to use the computer more.
Well I'm off to wash up the dinner dishes, I made spaghetti bol (my favorite) Have a great night Aussies/great day poms:-))

It rained here this evening, quite heavy for a little while with lots of lightning so computer stayed off. An almost direct strike as couple of years ago took out my telephone answering machine and the modem. I now have a surge protector. Carole, perhaps you are too young. I remember Ethel Merman as a rather large actress, and she was in Call Me Madam in the 1950s. I think she was also in There's No Business Like Show Business.
I also have finger problems with my typing. The commonest are teh and taht for teh and that. But many others, and I don't always catch them in time.
I am not sure about renewing my GR next time. I have made good friends on the boards, but is it really worth the money? I also belong to Ancestry.

Was I going back TOO far when I referred to Ethel Merman? Yes, she was the star on Broadway and in the film of Call Me Madam - but don't expect me to break out in song. You would be sorry if you asked me to do that!!
Maybe Tec will sing for us. He should be able to sing. He's Welsh! (I suppose I'll get an answer to that one in the morning!). I'm nicking off now in case he is hovering around.
As for the rain. Huh! Same as usual. It actually sounded heavy but only lasted for the usual two or three minutes. Plenty of lightning, a little thunder and I suppose back to watering the pots again in the morning.
Goodnight all. Have a nice day and evening, Brits!

Good Morning/Evening Everyone,
Madame Berona.......I am a disappointment to my fellow Welshmen, for I cannot sing either. I could once, as a boy soprano. The music teacher at school would make me sing solo at school concerts, in front of a hall full of parents. I could bring tears to the eyes of old ladies with my rendition of " Oh For The Wings Of A Dove" Now, well I can still bring tears to the eyes of old ladies, and young ones, because when I sing, the milk curdles, dogs howl, and car alarms go off. On the other hand, my OH had a wonderful singing voice. She was a member of a Welsh Choir years ago. She sang solo in the Royal Albert Hall, and toured Spain, singing in Madrid. Then another tour of Holland.
Colin.......I am traumatised at the news that you are even contemplating leaving GR. There is a serious imbalance of gender on this thread as it is. Not only would we be denied your contribution, and humour, but Allan and I would be left to hold the fort alone. You know what girls are like. Let them see a chink in the armour, and they go straight for the jugular. We would be out numbered, out manouvered, out everything. Please reconsider. "The time has come for every man to come to the aid of the party"
Carole,.....I rather like the idea of the sound of rain on a tin roof. We have a little cinema near here with a tin roof. It is not however appreciated when watching a film, during a cloud burst outside.
Alison,......... I am pleased at the prospect of becoming a "Great Uncle", and my new contact has given me some invaluable information, giving me an insight into the lives of my ancestors.
Persey........ I will pass on the tip about having the triplets tattoed. Maybe First, Second, Third, according to order of arrival. Hope your OHs foot is not too sore - don't get stamping on it will you.
Allan........ I was thinking that the nightcap would be perfect attire as part of my image as "Great Uncle Bulgaria" as in Wombles - what do you think?
Regards Tec.

Hello everyone - nice to hear from the busy people who can only pop in now and then. Persey hope your OH's foot is looking good:-)
I've woken up to the eeriest sight outside. The sky is red and there is a fog the like of which I haven't seen here before. I don't know if there is a fire somewhere or what it is but I've never seen anything like it. As it's getting lighter the red doesn't seem to be going - it's just hanging there like something out of a nightmare. I'm off to take some photos.
Colin I hope we're not going to lose you - not when we're just getting to know you:-))

I've just found out why it looks like something out of the Twilight Zone. The orange is caused by the strong winds blowing dust in from the west. It's amazing and I worry about anyone that has to be out of the roads. Also anyone with allergies or asthma. Very weird.

Good Morning Sue, How very strange that all sounds, and strange that you haven't seen it before. Is the land very dry, and the wind exeptionally strong today?
I do hope aliens haven't landed! Sue I have lost track, have you done your radio interview, or is that today - I'm definately losing the plot, be patient.

Tec the wind has blown the dust from the west which is very dry - and yes the winds are very strong. Everything is covered in dust - the cars are a mess and even the plants in the garden are covered in dust. It really is strange. My radio interview is today - I've been given a list of questions and have notes for my answers. I'm not quite as nervous now.
Hello, Joy. Did you enjoy Galway? And did you find lots of info?

Sue, That's so strange - I suppose it will be out with the hosepipe when things settle down - we have had a similar experience. Apparently when conditions are right, we have had fine sand like dust covering everything. That apparently comes all the way up off the Sahara in North Africa, I'm amazed it gets this far.
You will be fine on the radio, and wonder what ever you were nervous about - but we are all the same with something we've not done before. Good luck with it, and I hope you get a great response.

Good evening/morning everybody
Tec, I can see you as Great Uncle Bulgaria, wandering across Wimbledon Common, assisting with the recycling. Perhaps I could help.
Sue, I hope that the dust storm hasn't caused too many problems for you. When we lived on the Goldfields we used to get such storms on a regular basis. We would have just enough warning to get the washing in as we could literally see the storm moving in.
Berona, was Jonah Welsh? I just wondered because I've heard that everyone sings in Whales
Hello to Colin, Carole,Joy, and to anyone else that I have missed
