Elisabeth Report 6 Sep 2009 16:58

Daff,

Outside privvy because they are shown so often in 'green programmes' these days as a roofing material, but they were growing on Grandad's outbuildings many, many years ago, in my childhood!

Elisabeth

Edit: perhaps the 'leek' could be substituted with 'leak'!!

Yes, they are known as house leeks, goodness knows why.

Huia Report 7 Sep 2009 05:25

I could have sworn I put a piece on here about Sempervivum - house leeks. Now I find I put it on Just Jeans thread. I think I am going crackers, all that lawnmowing. A little while ago I had another go at starting the lawnmower and it started after about 20 pulls so I did more of the lawn. There is still the path down the bottom of the garden to do but I think it can wait until another day. I am sitting here in a monstrous pool of sweat.

I wonder if all this unaccustomed exercise will improve my figure - if I dont drop dead of a heart attack or heat exhaustion.

Huia.

Bright as a button Jean, don't actually know but my guess would be something to do with military uniform buttons.

Good morning all. BC, I will swap places, I love shopping and I have to make myself sit down and balance the accounts (household).

Huia, I bet you will lose weight with all the exercise, try not to overdo it though.
Maz, hope you have a good day at work.

MrDaff Report 7 Sep 2009 09:45

Morning all.... grey and dull here.... and I am off to the dentist in a while... I am all ready to go and my appointment is not until 11.15.... not that I am eager or anything, lolol

I don't think I am overdoing things, lol...I have done no swearing at all, lol. I was warned that it would continue to hit me every so often for at least a year or so after my last treatment... plus my bloods are not fully up... except the red blood cells, bless them, and they really are very very good!!...... so this would be about right.... I also had a problem for about a week/10 days with all my hurty bits really hurting... I think that has as much to do with it all, to be honest... I was fine most of last week, but it seems that if I sleep straight through, I wake earlier, and so am tired earlier..... My time clock is all about face, lol... I need 7 to 8 hours sleep, but can only stay awake for about 12 at a stretch..... so there are a couple of hours when I don't quite know what to do with myself... nap, and I am awake in the night, or sit like a zombie with matchsticks propping my eyes open for 4 or 5 hours. *sighs* Never mind.... it'll all come out in the wash! And even when I am tired, it is still nowhere near as tired as this time last year, that was dreadful. So I know that I am improving daily... honestly!! *smiles hugely*

Ann.... shall we go and get BC all kitted out?? We'd be really good at that... BC you wouldn't have to shop for another 10 years if you let us loose!! Mind you.... you'll need to win the lottery first ;¬))

Huia... I know... I can't use the little hover we bought.... it tips over!! it is too little.... It will get easier, though, as you get used to pulling that cord... I am ok once the motor has warmed up... it is the initial start that I can't manage.

Maz, hope today is going well for you xxxx

Well... I am restless now... I am going to treat myself to stuff from Hobbycraft on my way back from the dentist... after seeing all the pretty ribbons Ann has, I really must have more myself, lolol I shall go and make a comfortingly long and expensive list of *must haves* I think, lol

Have a wonderful day, everyone

Love

Morning Daff, Mr Daff and Everyone:o)

Its a lovely day here, washing is on the line, next lot nearly ready. l'm still in my pj's though:o))
Need to get out in the garden its looking neglected:o)

Daff....take it easy, hope the dentist session goes well, we have fillings to be done next week....grrr:o(

Huia....take it easy too, for goodness sake the garden can wait a few days, or get someone in to do some for you!!

Mamiddau....how old is O? has your other little one gone to school now, l forget how old they are!!

My granddaughter starts Pre School tomorrow, l can't believe it, she's quite excited at the moment but might not be when she realises she has to stay there without mummy!!!

Hope everyone has a good day:o)

hi Jude! oh.....1st day - she'll be fine, parents may not be lol!

O is 2 1/2.....hes gone in his boat now.....apparently, he has my handbag, a peppa pig phone, and his dummy so he'll be ok! lol! H started back in school last thursday, she's in year 1 now, 5 1/2 years old. shes not too good, GP has referred her to a paediatric neurologist for tests, she appears to be having partial frontol lobe seizures. we're waiting for appointments now. H loves school, the holidays were too long for her. H didn't bat an eyelid when we took her for a first day of nursery, having said that I went back to work each time, when they were 6 month old so they're both used to being away from me. O has become a real mummies boy since I've been at home. Can't believe I've been out of work since Feb, time has gone so quickly in some ways, but I've been loving the time with my mad children.

Oh your poor DiL. I get uniform etc out the night before, otherwise I have no chance of getting the two kids and me out the house and at the school by 8:45! H takes sandwiches, so either OH or I do them the night before - and OH's lunch too, so I only need put it in her bag in the morning. I have to be organised, or it won't happen! the bit that causes most hassle, is H's hair.....Its so curly, but she wanted plaits this morning, which am not very good at (fine on my straight hair!) and it hurts!!!! Hope it goes well tomorrow.

give my love to V,

Just had three photos sent by my DiL of granddaughters first day back to school, this time in what we used to call Juniors or middle school so a change of school and a change of location, so grown up in her new uniform trousers and sweater and her hair tied neatly back. (she is 7). Apparently she was buzzing when she came home, she loved it.

A big hug for all the little children big and small..it doesn't seem that long when my son had to be prised from my neck on his first day at school! lol

Well I didn't get a coat. I saw a very nice one I liked in Selfridges. When I looked at the label it said £l,556.00 so I smiled and walked on by!. But I got a nice floaty burnt orangey kind of jacket...somewhere else:-))..

*sighs...next time, can Daff and Ann please become my Personal Shoppers for the day...it is sooooo stressful!...and I am sooo picky!

Hope you have all had a good day. BCXXX

But we'd have chosen the £1,556.00 one BC, I am sure it was just you!!!

Glad you got a jacket anyway. Sounds nice.
