Hello again everyone. Well Jean Roly came home a bit peeved off. The physio chap made him do some exercises, and was feeling his knee at the same time,( no not like that), he told him that his knee was graunching in the joint. Roly already knew that, and was trying to tell him that he could not bend very well, because off his knees. He has got some excercises to do,and has to go back next week. Well I will wait and see if he does them, and also if he will continue to go. Sallie,we only have the one car. And I get to drive it when I need it. I don't go on the motorways though,as the lorries frighten the life out off me. Still no news on my nephew. I thought my brother would phone me yesterday,as it was his birthday, and I sent him a card, but nothing from him at all. I have got to the point that I am not going to keep chasing him. Which coast are Jennie and Michael going to. I hope the weather stays fine for them.

Hi Jean and all,
sorry you aren't feeling yourself Jean, won't ask the naughty question lol
Hope the doc can sort you out and you will feel better by and by, it's annoying when you don't feel right but don't know why.
Counsellor was lovely yesterday, we were talking about things and she said it's not encouraged, but I feel as if I want to give you a hug, bless her, I said I would accept it as given and felt a nice warm glow from her nice thought. Don't feel as tho I am making any progress but getting lots of old stuff out and aired, mentally if you know what I mean and she is helping me look at why I feel the way I do about so many things. Hope it will help me move forward and stop holding on to all my junk lol
Take care of yourselves, don't work too hard those of you who are moving furniture and such, there's another day tomorrow.
love Lizxx
Huia, been thinking about you and hope Phil is still perky and you are still getting out a bit among company, with winter coming I suppose it will be a bit quieter for you at home so make the best of it when you can.

Phil wasnt quite as perky yesterday as he had been last Thursday, but he was still better than he had been a few weeks ago.
I went to a class reunion on Saturday so lots of company.
For a long time the skin on my left elbow has felt very rough. I had fallen down the stairs several years ago and grazed it, so I thought it was just that the skin was too stretched since then, but I happened to google lichen sclerosus and there was a picture that looked just like it. I am going to see the doc tomorrow to see what she thinks. I am also wondering if the ointment I am using for l.s. 'down there' is the reason I have had a rash in the groin. When I googled that particular ointment it said that it can cause fungal growths. Doctors must hate people who google, but after the incident with the combigan eyedrops I wanted to know more about things.

I have just finished scanning 8 pages of 'The Saga of the Augers', which is a copy of a letter sent to my gt uncle Harold in c1938 by his cousin Lucy in Canada. I have attached them to an email to a newly found descendent of Lucy. Over the past day or so I have also scanned 3 letters (10 pages) sent to my niece by Lucy's son, and have sent them to my n.f.relative. Plus the transcripts from the Parish Reg. of St Mary's Twickenham sent to my cousin quite a few years ago, with all the Auger info. Now what else can I send her? It is keeping me very busy.

Good afternoon ladies. Good news about the counselling Liz. It's daft that they are not allowed to show emotion, during the sessions, but then the rules these days, are becoming ludicrous. It was bad enough, when I was doing the fostering, that they bought in a rule that children were not supposed to sit on your lap. Fear of sexual abuse I suppose. But what young child, who has hurt themself, does not enjoy a cuddle. The law, in lots off cases is an ass. I can understand protection, off a child, or an adult, but they carry things to a rediculous degree. Enough off that as I can get quite irate about it. Good to hear Phil is still perky Huia. Did you enjoy the reunion. It must have been good to notice the difference in the people you were once at school with. Probably the ones who were the noisiest at school, are now the quietest with age. I hope the doc can sort your problems with your elbow, and groin out. Perhaps they are connected. Don't forget you have the appointment for your eyes on the 19th. I will try to remember at the weekend, and give you a reminder about it.

Thanks Mo. Yes, it is lichen sclerosus on my elbow, and yes the ointment I have been using down below is probably why I had so much trouble with my groin. The ointment suppresses the immune system. She looked up my notes on her computer and found I was supposed to use the ointment for only 3 months, so next time I am seen by a doc or whoever I will have pad and pen at the ready to write down what I am told. Admittedly back in Sept when I was given the prescription I was still in a zonked out state from tiredness due to looking after Phil. I wont have that excuse next time so must make sure I remember what I am told. All the label on the carton says is 'use as directed'. Very helpful - not.
Our class has had several reunions since 1990. There was one last year, so not much difference to be noticed since then. I dont know about the noisiest children now being the quietest, but I was the quietest and am now the most noisy! If there was a prize for 'most changed' I would win it hands down.

Huia, you and me both, I used to be so quiet and shy, and then I started arranging the reunions which ballooned to large events and people were amazed to see me stand up and talk to everyone etc. I had also grown another 6" taller since I left school so the first reunion gave people more surprises when I was on their level instead of gazing up. In fact the short gym mistress couldn't believe how much bigger I was as I used to be 5' nothing like her lol
Great that you are getting out and about and hope Phil stays better and doesn't get as lethargic as he had been.
Hope your lichen thingy clears up soon and the other problems, shame it wasn't written on the ointment that it was short term use only.
Jean, hope you will feel better soon, I know how easy it is to feel low and not know why, it comes and goes with me but I have no 5htp at the mo as I can't afford any so until I can get some more if they go onto special offer and I find a cache of hidden gold, lol, I will struggle on without them. I don't take antid's as never liked the side effects.
Love to all, as they say in Norfolk, keep on a troshing....

Hi Jean, glad you feel better for talking to the doc. No, No treatment for anti virals to work they have to be taken immediately the shingles erupts which seeing as most people don't find out it is shingles until later means most people don't get any treatment. it just has to take its course. But, yes my arm is still very sore although I am trying to ignore it.
Just over two weeks to our holiday.

Oh my god Huia, what are we to do with you. Please take care with your meds. After working in a pharmacy for so many years,I know how people can continue with a medication without realising they should have stopped way sooner than they had. And when a family member had passed away, the next off kin used to bring old medications in,and believe me,some were soooo out off date it was unbelievable. Like yourself and Liz said,at school, I was the shy retiring sort, who was bullied by the older girls. Not now believe me,I have the biggest gob around. ( Now thats an opening for Jean ) lol Liz,I used to be 5ft 4inch's,as I have got older I have shrunk, and now stand at about 5 ft 1 inch and have spread round the middle instead. What you need Jean,is a good dose off sunshine,to make you feel better. And plenty off blackcurrant juice. I can't believe they have changed J's appointment next year already. When is your next hospital appointment.? I have not got my plants just yet Jean. Not been feeling to good for the last few days, but oh soo much better today. I phoned my doctor yesterday, and she left me a prescription out. But on reading the side affects,I have decided not to take them, and to just let my body get rid off it by itself. We have bought ourselves a bottle off tonic,to help build up our immune system. The was no way I wanted to suffer an anaphylactic reaction, because of the anti-biotics. Our darts season has finished till October, but we are in the middle off the knockouts at the moment. I am sorry to hear that the shingles is still playing you up Ann. Can you take painkillers to help ease it,or has the doctor not suggested it. Love to all. Mo xxx

Hi Girls,
Jean, pleased that you feel a bit better after speaking to the doctor. At least you are able to get on with your card making now. Let's hope that by drinking blackcurrent juice and eating things that have vitamin B in, the problem will right itself. I'm still making cards, I have a few birthdays coming up in May, so thought I'd get started on them. Like you Jean and Ann, I have become addicted to card making.
Ann, I hope your arm will feel at least a bit better by the time you go on holiday. Are you managing to make cards, or is your arm too painful?
Huia, I hope you are feeling a bit better....I'm not sure what it is you have as I've not heard of it before. Whatever it is, hope it will soon clear up. Also hope that Phil will be awake and alert when you visit him next.
Mo, Michael's parents have their caravan on the east coast, not sure of the name of the place, but I know that it's in Lincolnshire, between Mablethorpe and Cleethorpes. Jennie said it's a nice place, not much there and it's very quiet, but they like it there. When do the darts start again? Sorry, I can't remember what you told us.....just put it down to old age.
Liz, glad to hear that your counselling is going well. It's amazing how they can bring things to the surface, things that I thought didn't have anything to do with my depression. Everyone I had seen and spoken to before, always said that things were linked, but I couldn't see that until I started seeing the Counsellor I'm with now. Could you please tell me what a troshing means, I haven't heard of it until now. Thanks!
Thinking about Julia, Sylvia, Marie, Debbie and Marilyn.
Well, back to card making now, but first I'm going to make a nice cuppa.
Speak later.
Love and best wishes to you all. Take care! Sallie xxx

Just a quickie, if you want a giggle have a look on this site:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/norfolk/talk/talk_dialect.shtml
many of the words the people mention are ones I remember from childhood, troshing is on there, it mainly means harvesting.
We have some areas where they use old names for things for roads to keep the words alive, one is Bishy Barnaby Way or road, or whatever it is lol

Mo, the reason I assumed I was supposed to keep using the ointment is that I was prescribed 3 tubes of it. I am still on the 2nd tube after 7 months, so it is natural to assume it is a year's supply. But having not used it for the last 2 nights and using the cream for the fungal infection I think the latter has almost gone. I will make sure I have pen and notebook poised to take notes next time I see a doc or whoever for whatever.
Sally lichen sclerosus is something which causes a severe itch down below. If not treated it can become pre-cancerous. It is not infectious and can show as clear white patches on other parts of the body, or even rough white skin as I had on my elbow. Men can also get it and the cure for them is often circumcision.
I am off out again today. Do a bit of shopping and visit Phil and then a meeting at his hospital to hear what they have been doing and discuss his further 'treatment'.

Sallie, I am just doing things in moderation so I have made 3 cards this week and I type on here a bit then go and read for a while. I am stubborn I wont give in, or take pain killers unless I absolutely have to. Luckily I have quite a high pain threshold.

Mo, I am feeling a bit more chipper as you say,I am in the middle of sorting some cards out and adding more to the pile... we went out for lunch today, with our friends, just what I needed....Had a problem with our young neighbour, music tirned on at 2.30 and finally went off at 4. J had a word with her, lots of grovelling but I honestly dont think she is clever enough to understand its not on... so if it happens again ,He will take the vac which is a noisy one , and switch it on and come downstairs for a while.. what does worry me ,is her little boy who is about 12 months old, was taken out last night with her and someone elseat 8.30 and came back at 2.0....then she stays in bed and the little mite is crying because he wants to be changed and fed....welll rant over, off to watch corrie...

Hello Everyone,
Mo, I wonder where everyone is today! It's very quiet on here at the moment. Alun and I are still looking for bungalows---the problem is there doesn't seem to be many for sale in the area we want to live. I wish now that I had carried on learning to drive years ago, so that now I wouldn't have to worry about being close to a bus route. Glad to hear that both you and Roly are feeling better after taking a tonic. Hope the rest of your family are all okay.
Ann, how are things with you? Hope the pain isn't too severe, so that you can at least concentrate on some things. I haven't done any cards over the last couple of days, as I've been busy, and today I'm having one of my bad days, so can't concentrate on card making.
Jean, I hope you are feeling a bit better and managing to get the cards done. I know the feeling well, so you have my sympathy.
Huia, thanks for telling me what lichen scelrosus is-- I had never heard of it before you mentioned it on here. Hope you found Phil as well as can be expected when you visited him.
Hope all is well with Julia, Marie, Debbie, Liz, Sylvia and Marilyn.
Love and best wishes. Sallie xxx

Oh my word Jean, what you are having to put up with is just not on. And that poor baby,it should be in it's cot, nice and snuggled down.NOT being taken out in the cold after dark. How inconsiderate can some people be. Sorry to hear you have not had a very good day Sallie. Tommorrow is another day, just keep up the good fight. Only do your cards when you are in the right frame off mind,or else you will only be dissapointed if they turn out wrong. Take care love.

Well, arm is not quite as painful, the few rash spots on my back keep pricking and pinching but not too bad.
Jean sorry to hear about your neighbour. You know if you have the slightest suspicion that the little one is being neglected you can report it anonymously. You might feel it is not a nice thing to do but if it was really distressed it should be done.
