Oh no I have just missed you Sallie. Helloooo

Sallie

Sallie Report 13 Mar 2010 18:36

Mo, good to see you on here today, as you say we just missed each other. Richard has the second interview on Monday, his birthday, so lets hope it's a good omen. We shall see! Supposed to be going down tomorrow, Christie has booked a day off so that the four of us can have a day out together, but not sure if it's worth going now, with Richard having the interview. Don't know what time he has to be there for, I'll see what he says when I ring him later on.

Sylvia, Richard was born two weeks early, and ended up a forceps delivery, he had a bruise on his head from the forceps and was also jaundiced. He was fine, just couldn't get enough milk, he was a greedy little baby.

Marie the thread is called Scrapbooking and other crafts. Or you may mean the other thread which is something like 'Wouldn't it be nice in 2010'
Mo the jobs are different but it will give your Granddaughter experience in interacting with people. Tell her all experience is good experience and, who knows, if the customers like her she may get some tips.
Sallie, yes, I definitely should not take cash when I go to
these places, if I had been relying on c cards I wouldn't have bought so much as some of the stalls didn't take cards.

Sylvia, I am glad baby is home, much better for Mum

Hi all

Mo ......... so sorry to hear about yoru son. This isn't the one who manages the pub is it??

waiting to hear today's news from J ... she promised to phone as soon as they knew what was happening with Matt ................ if the bilirubin count was higher there was a possibility/probability that they would keep him at the hospital, if it had dropped then he would be going home. It's currently about 2:45 pm here, which means about 6:45pm in Halifax, and we still haven't heard anyhting.

Hoping no news is good news.

We watched the Paralympics Opening Ceremony last night. It was fantastic!! Lots of youngsters involved, and people that would be called disbaled except they were so good at what they were doing that there was no way you could really call them that! A break dancer who is unable to use his legs. A rock singer who has only one leg and half an arm. A one-handed violin player ...... and so it went. Including wheelchair users doing the same tricks as skateboarders!

I gather you can see things and get reports/results on the International Paralympics Committee website .............. www.paralympic.org

We're having our annual Spring Party for the people who work at the Botanical Garden at the unviersity. That's where I worked for 30 years until I took early retirement in 2000, and where OH has had one of his offices for the last 10 years. It's also where he has been Acting Director on about 3 occasions!

There'll be about 20 people coming, not all of them but a goodly proportion, and most of them will have their partners as well ..... it's always good to see them!!

I'm under strict orders from OH not to do anything, but to let him do it all. So far I have written yesterday's shopping list, today's supplementary list, jobs list, done the flowers (50 daffodils!), got out the basket for bread rolls, and done hand towels in both bathrooms.

He has: cooked a salmon yesterday evening to serve cold, picked up 2 lasagnas (1 meat and 1 vegetarian or vegan) from a local restaurant that we will cook and serve hot, has made 2 trifles; and will make the salads including a cucumber salad, a fruit salad, whip cream, put out glasses and plates, wine and beer. And make a fruit punch.

I keep trying to do little bits ....... and getting shouted at and sent away!!

Happy Mothering Sunday to you all for tomorrow

Take care

You are all very busy, and all I did yesterday was a machine full of washing, had to hang it all up inside to dry overnight so when o.h. gets up he can put it out of the way to finish off, it's his work stuff so needs to be ready by Monday. I cooked dinner and washed up and that's about it, am winding down on here now and will have to go to bed a bit earlier so I can get up before my son comes round at midday for Mother's Day. Hopefully we will go out somewhere, it depends on the weather if we go to the coast, or to the Broads, or to a Mind Body and Spirit fair at my old school, it's on every year, sometimes twice a year and I have missed it for some time now so if it's raining we will go there, o.h. (still above ground lol) and my son won't find a lot to interest them but I will and they can have a natter, my son puts up with o.h. who in fairness has helped him sometimes with things at his flat, did some electrical work with him when he first moved in and has helped a few times, working with my son to guide him in d.i.y. etc.
Mo, you missed a thread round about my 60th Birthday lol, when there was a rumour I was missing cos I was busy laying a patio lol It was so funny with many of my friends who aren't all on the boards now, having a giggle about o.h. being six feet under lol You reminded me of that with your comment and I laughed to myself.

Hope you all have a lovely day and our Jean and J have a nice holiday.

love to all

Hello one and all.
What a lovely day I have had. Thoroughly spoilt by the family. Lovely cards, beautiful flowers, chocolates coming from all directions,I am sooo lucky.
Our meal was absolutely fabulous. The only problem was that you could not book for meals today. Everyone had to take pot luck. We were told that the wait was one hour fourty five minutes, but we were seated within the hour. I had the BBQ combo, with a corn on the cob,and a jacket potato, plus
lots off salad from the salad cart. I did not want a dessert,as I was so full up.
The weather here has been lovely as well, which made for an even nicer mothers day.
I hope you have all had a nice day as well.
Love and best wishes to you all. Mo xxx

Hello All,

Well Mo, it looks as though it's only the two of us on here today. Glad to hear that you've had a lovely Mothers Day and a really great meal, plus lots of pressies.
I hope that both you and Roly are feeling better today.

Jennie and Michael came for their usual Sunday lunch, they bought me a lovely card, but couldn't afford a present.
Not that it mattered to me, I'm quite happy with just having a card, and having them both here. We had a nice couple of hours together.

Alun and I have been fairly busy today, trying to get the house sorted, ready for when the valuers come on Tuesday and Wednesday. It's been a lovely bright day,so have got all the washing dry. We decided not to go to Richard's after all, with him having the interview tomorrow afternoon at 3-00pm, there wouldn't be much time to go anywhere, and we have things to do in the house. So, we all decided to make it another time.

Hope everthing is alright with you all.

I've been making some mor cards this evening, we have so many birthdays in March, between family and friends, ten in all.

I'll speak to you all tomorrow.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Hi folks, I had a very nice day on Sunday, my son came round with a lovely card and big bunch of burgundy and pale pink tulips, which I love, and then we went to the coast and had a walk, the waves were really strong altho there were surfers in the sea, idiots lol, and spray was coming right over onto the promenade. Son bought us all fish and chips which was my choice, didn't fancy a restaurant but there is a great chippie there which has won awards so we went there and ate our food out of the paper sitting on a bench inside the shop. Walked miles, it's ages since I have been to Cromer so was a nice change and I steered o.h. away from the pub so he could drive home too, saved me doing it.
I hope everyone had a lovely day
Counselling again today so o.h. has to bike to work as he is on late shift, his legs will be sore after all the walking yesterday lol

Deborah Report 15 Mar 2010 11:53

Morning All, how is everyone today? I feel very chipper as the sun is shining and the world looks good from my angle. Had a lovely weekend, Matthew was in a rugby tournament all day on Fri, and then there was no other sport all weekend for the boys. Matthew had 2 birthday parties to go to, so I didn't see much of him at all. He slept out as well, which was nice for him. Daniel has been round and about with various mates - Liz, you said about the surfers, well Daniel was in the sea yesterday, very cold but he had fun.

Luke & Spohie both had parties to go to as well, so we have been busy driving them around all over the place.

Mothering Sunday was lovely, once we'd all "touched base". We had decided not to go out to eat, but our walk and wanderings around the place found us down at the harbour so we just went to the cafe there and had things with chips (as long as chips are involved, it doesn't matter what accompanies them !!!!!). It was only myself & Peter (my O.H.), with Luke & Sophie. So it was good to have some special time with the younger 2.

All back to school now, and counting down to the holidays, I can't believe they have come round so quickly.

Peters dads funeral is Weds, for whoever asked, and the children have all been given the option as to whether they want to accompany us or not. The younger 2 definately won't and the older 2 say they don't want to, but they may change their minds on the day. Absolutely no pressure on them either way.

Sylvia, I hope that Matthew is keeping well. Jaundice isn't anything to worry about so long as it is treated as soon as it is picked up, which seems to be happening for the young chap. Your journey to see the family sounds long, but lovely. I'm not so keen on flying but the train journey sounds as though it is worth doing. I have only ever been to Canada once, and that was to Toronto, but my father had relatives that settled in Vancouver many moons ago and they are long gone now, but I still have details of some of them, one lady opened a Church of some sort in the area. I can't remember the details exactly, but I'll let you know and then you can see if it is anywhere you have every heard of.

Right, better go before you all nod off to sleep reading this. Happy Monday to everyone.

Hi Sallie, managed to finish my baking on Saturday, Coffee and Walnut Cake, and two Pizza's for the freezer, and read your post re myself, when, yes,you guessed it, off I went Saturday night, until about a couple of hours ago, to my usual place.
Had to contact you because I remembered the Property Pages in out local paper, which goes out tomorrow fo collection. There is a bungalow on that road, and I think it is the same one, and is for sale also with Hall & Partners, in our town. Hope you have good luck when the valuers come on Wednesday.

Debbie, thanks for the walk, it looks interesting.
Julia, do they keep a bed with your name on it for you?
Sallie and Mo, I am glad you enjoyed your Mothers days.

I had a lovely bead necklace and earrings from daughter plus a hand made card, and a card and a beautiful bouquet delivered from Som and family so felt very spoiled even though I didn't see them.

Good evening ladies.
Just a quickie,I have got to have dinner, and then my bath and get ready for darts tonight.
Hope the therapy went well today Liz.
Brrr you made me feel cold talking about Daniel going into the sea. Hope you are all well. I will be thinking off you all on Wednesday. I hope that the children cope o.k.
Julia, sorry to hear off your trip back to the hospital. I hope they get you sorted out as soon as possible.
Ann your gifts sound really nice. But as we have said before, the cards are the thing that count, more than anything else.
Sylvia, Yes it is the son that ran the pub. He is a bit off a jack off all trades,
and master off none,bless him.
Have you heard how young Matthew is progressing.
I hope your spring party went well. I am not surprised you were getting shouted at,for doing things you should not do. You should rest, you naughty woman you.
Sallie, how did Richard get on today.?
Are you and Alun deffinately going to move then. Only when you say you have got the valuers coming tommorrow,it has got me thinking. I know you said you would like a bungalow.
Well girls I must go now. Love to all. Mo xxx

Sallie Report 15 Mar 2010 21:15

Hello Ladies,

Mo, I forgot it's your darts night tonight. Keeping my fingers crossed that your team will win. Good luck to you all! Yes, we are deffinitely hoping to to move a bungalow, so we thought we make a start and get the house valued. I'd like to stay in this area of the town if we can, but there aren't many bungalows for sale at the moment. We've lived in this same area for thirty one years, and this is the third house we've lived since living here.
Richard didn't get the job, I think he's a bit disappointed that he didn't get it, even though it wasn't really the kind of job he wanted. But at least it's a job and that it was experience, something else that he could add to his CV.

Liz, it looks as though you had a lovely Mothers Day. I'm pleased that you enjoyed your fish and chips, it's the best way to eat them, they always taste different, when you eat them from paper. Hope you got on okay with your Counsellor today. Did you manage to drive the car alright, if your legs were aching from all the walking you did yesterday.

Julia, sorry you had to go back to your usual place, I thought you had because I hadn't seen you on the boards. I hope you are feeling better now, and also that they will soon be able to find out what the trouble is.
It sounds as though youv'e been busy, doing some baking--I did some on Saturday, it's nice to have some homemade cake.

Debbie, I'll be thinking about you, your OH and the family on Wednesday. I hope it will all go off alright, not a nice time at all, but something that none of us can avoid, I'm afraid. You sound as though you had a nice Mothers Day too. I think sometimes, even if we haven't got anything planned, we enjoy yourselves just as much, if not more. It sounds as though both Daniel and Matthew both had a busy weekend.

Sylvia, I hope your Spring Party went well, and that everyone enjoyed themselves. It's always nice to see people that you don't see very often, lovely to catch up on all the news. Hope all is well with baby Matthew now.

Ann, nice to hear that you also enjoyed Mothers Day. How are you doing with the cardmaking? I've almost finished making cards for Michael's birthday on Friday, I think I've got bitten by the bug after making the cards for Richard last week. Quite pleased with them, considering they were my first attempt at making them.

Huia, how are things with you? Haven't heard from you for a couple of days, so hope all is well.

I've been busy again today, what with doing some cleaning, ironing and making cards, so I'm going to have a shower, and then relax with a cuppa before going to bed.

Thinking about all our absent friends, and hope they are all well.

Speak to you all tomorrow.

Love and best wishes.

Mo. hope you won tonight.

Sallie, I made one card yesterday but not done any today. still got one scrap book page waiting to be stuck down as well.
We often think about a bungalow (I grew up in one and our first married home was a bungalow too. Our problem is, as soon as we start to think about it we think about all the accumulated stuff and where we would put it all!!!

Sallie

Sallie Report 15 Mar 2010 21:56

Hi Ann,

Just seen your message. We'll have to get rid of some stuff if we move to a bungalow, and not just furniture. I have two dolls houses, one of which is quite big, so I think I'll have to get rid of it. Both Alun and Jennie has told me that I'll have to sell it, and not just give it away ( that's what I usually do) as it cost quite a lot when I bought it. So they are both digging their heels in this time.

Love, Sallie.xx

Hi all.

Sallie, I dont know how you can remember who has posted and what they have said, or do you jot down notes as you read so that you can then type away merrily without having to scroll up and down the page, but then they are not always on the one page are they? If dont mention everybody it is because I am not like Sally and I cant remember all that has gone before.

On Saturday (today is Tuesday) I went out for the day, to Thames for their Heritage day. I took a DVD of old photos dating back to 1928 and gave it to the Historic Soc.

Yesterday (Monday) a friend took me through to Auckland to a daytime concert, mostly operatic pieces, but the 3 tenors and 1 soprano had great personalities, otherwise my friend would probably have been thoroughly bored, I dont think it is her sort of music. I would have preferred a shorter concert but I was familiar with most of the pieces and have even sung in the chorus for one of them (about 1 line we had to sing!) when I think the soloist was Geoff Sewell from Amici.

Tomorrow I will be out again to visit Phil and do my shopping and on Thurs and/or Friday I will offer to help man a shop for our Gen. group's book sale in Papakura.

I havent planned my weekend yet, I dont like to plan too far ahead anyway, but I hope my son might come to visit from Rotorua. If not I will have a day out somewhere on Sunday, anywhere as long as it doesnt have too many memories, as it will be the 51st anniversary of our wedding and I dont want to stay at home on my own.

Huia.

Hi everyone

Lovely to hear that you all had really nice Mother's Days

Ours isn't until May 10 (second Sunday in May)

.............. it's so very commercial over here that we've always made a point with J that nothing more than a card is to be given on either Mother's Day or Father's Day (in June).

The party went well .... at least, we enjoyed ourselves! Had too much food as always, so we're on "eat the leftovers" duty.

OH had to go to the dentist today, dentist took off one of the crowns to "see what was underneath" (this is key to choice of future treatment). "Ah, yes, as we thought, decay" ..... so much decay that whatever remained of the tooth came away, just leaving the peg that had helped support it.

Sooooooooooooo ........ the dentist removed all that remained, and inserted an implant into the jaw bone.

OH is on soft food for the next week ...................... so some of the left-over salmon went into a fish pie!

Talked to J this afternoon. MJ is doing well, feeding voraciously, and seemingly p**ing and p**ping well enough to be washing out the bilirubins from his liver, so the jaundice should be sorted out soon. She goes to the family doctor tomorrow for the 1 week check-up .................. doesn't seem like a week! Her GP doesn't deliver babies, so she went to one of his partners for the pregnancy and delivery, now she can go back to him.

I asked if she was sure he had room on his list for a new patient! Answer was, yes, and he also would take "daddy" as well, who has been having problems with his long-time GP.

We're in another system of Pacific storms ... heavy rain, sun, more rain, more sun, etc. It should be nice and sunny for several days starting on Thursday.

Take care everyone
