Teresa L.A. Report 1 Feb 2009 13:06

Dad managed to get a cancellation for a scan on his neck so we went to Sheffield this morning. He has to go back on wednesday of this week for another round of tests, ecg scan etc, Then next monday he is in to get ready for operation on Tuesday 11th. Up to now we think it will be a triple heart bypass and not a quadruple, He has been told he will be in intensive care for a day or so then will be kept in the hospital for 7 - 10 days.

Thanks for all your messages last week it meant a lot. x

Teresa.

Thanks Helen, we are trying to keep him positive about it, but he is a worrier and has never been in hospital for such a big operation. I keep telling him that a few months down the line he will be able to do loads more stuff and not be out of breath etc like he is now.

Hi Teresa.

I'm sure your dad will be ok, it must be such a worry to be facing this and I'm glad you've had lots of supportive messgaes on here - we'll all be thinking of you & wishing your dad well.

Have a word with Barbara2 about this - I know she's out today but her hubby went through this last year, ended up having a quadruple bypass, and is now fit and well, back at work, and went on hols just after Christmas. Barbara had lots of support on here and I'm sure she wouldn't mind me mentioning her on here.

Lots of love & best wishes

Thank you Maria, I will pm Barbara2, to see what i should expect when he comes round from the op. I can remember reading a thread about her Husband i can't believe he is back at work all ready.

I know he did really well. Lots of people have gone thru this by the sounds of it, it's good of people to share their stories, and the more you hear from these people hopefully the more positive you will feel.

Love,

Maria xx

I can understand fully your concerns.
My friend's husband had a quadruple bypass in Liverpool 2 years ago and he has never looked back.
These Cardiologists are very experienced and I'm sure your dad will be fine.
My OH had an Angioplasty in July 2007 and whilst not as major an op I was extremely worried too.
Your Dad will be fine. Ask as many questions as you want as this will allay your fears.

Hello, Just to let you all know that Dad is due to go into Hospital today at lunchtime, ready for his Triple Heart Bypass tomorrow. When he went last week for an ecg and more tests they found he had an irregular heartbeat. The consultant gave him different tablets to try and regulate it before his op. So fingers crossed they have worked.

I Will keep you all updated and thanks again to everyone who posted their kind messages.

Thank you everybody it means a lot that you are thinking of us.

I have just rang mum and dad to have a word quickly before they set off. Dad seemed very quiet and subdued, mum says he has packed and unpacked his bag at least three times in the last half an hour lol!

The sooner they get to the hospital the better haha.!
