Elizabeth did you catch it? was on one of the sky film channels this afternoon.... still brilliant ,and i enjoyed it just as much as the first time i saw it, which must be back in the 70s ......

OH is currently watching Bedtime Stories from 2008, with Adam Sandler, Russel Brand, Courtney Cox, Guy Pearce and numerous others..........looks quite good, but my computer was calling, and I needed to catch up with some emails, and of course all my cyber friends here on GR

Dear All

Hello

Dear Nicky.......I have got the video of "The Great Escape" but not sky!
Great film, though!

Imagine when the analogue signal is turned off! Chaos and all that money for new TV equipment, etc.

A peaceful and happy new year to fellow film buffs.

Take care

Very best wishes
xx

Hi Everyone.

This afternoon I watched 'The Young Victoria' with Emily Blunt. I did enjoy this film - just wished it had shown more of Victoria's early years with Albert. Has anyone else seen it ?

Catie......Yes i`ve see The Young Victoria.......... I thought it was very good, but like you thought they should have doubled the length of the film to get more content in.........I was amazed how she was mollycoddled by her over bearing mother........ though it turned her in to a tough cookie for later on in life...... thought it was quite sad how Alberts clothes were laid out every morning for her....she was widow for a long time.

Think Sarah Fergurson {duchess of York} was behind the idea for the film, and had done quite a lot of research herself on the subject.... She was obviously very intrested in Victoria and Albert as wasn`t Eugenie one of their daughters names?

We watched Quantam of Solace again the other day....makes more sense 2nd time round, as it was so fast paced that I think I missed some of the dialogue when we first saw it at the cinema when it came out....it is a good film, but i prefer Casino Royal....{ swoons at Daniel Craig} defo the best James Bond ever....

Ian Flemming's fictional character James Bond 007 has proved highly successful over the years, especially commercially.
But how many of the many films were actually from Fleming's books ?

That's interesting Nicky - didn't realise that Sarah Ferguson was asssociated with this film. I agree, the film deserved to be twice as long. Certainly one that I will watch again.

You have good taste Elizabeth :) I think Daniel Craig is gorgeous lol

David...... that sounds like a quiz question?? Presume you know the answer?

Think a lot of the early ones are from the books...can`t imagine Quantam of Solace was though...

Daniel Craig fans on the thread now totals 3...anymore???

EDIT... Was nearly correct about the name Eugenie...just found this

She was so named after Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg, the daughter of Princess Beatrice, the youngest daughter of Queen Victoria and Princess Helena, Victoria's third daughter. The Duchess of York was interested in the family of Queen Victoria, having previously written a book on the subject. Princess Eugenie was the first member of the royal family to have a public christening.

No Catie...... Havn`t seen Boy in The Striped Pyjamas, but have been wanting too since reading a write up on it a few months ago...did see it was on over xmas but was an hour in to it, and i`m the sort of person who needs to see a film from the beginning to follow it properly...

It's really worth watching Nicky - but have your handkie to the ready - it's a bit of a tear-jerker - but not sentimental.

David Report 6 Jan 2010 20:48

I don't know the correct answer, but Flemming only wrte about half a dozen 007 books, yet there have been perhaps 3 times that number of films made.

Even David Niven appeared in a spoof version with Deborah Kerr.

Nickydownsouth Report 6 Jan 2010 23:26
