Hi All,

Not been around for a couple of days...been busy...Johnny Depp not the only one whos had a birthday this week....drat another year older......and I`m a bit older than Johnny Depp as well...but 2 years younger that Hugh Laurie who`s birthday it is today.

OH was watching Mad Max as well........ isn`t the TV terrible at the moment.

Shine on Harvey Moon...didn`t that have linda Robson and Pauline Quirk {Birds of a feather} in it ? I didn`t watch it myself but my mum used to love it at the time.

Got a great b`day gift from middle daughter.....The Die Hard Quadriology........so now i can watch Bruce in that dirty vest whenever I want,

Eldest chose a good prezzie as well.......Bruce Springsteen and The E street Bands Greatest Hits.... its got all the great hits on from Born to Run {probably one of my all time fave songs} Hungry Heart, Glory Days many others and the brilliant Dancing in the Dark...another favourite, I only saw the advert for it on TV on sunday and commented that I`d like it, and lo and behold 3 days later i get it for my birthday, and i always think no one in this house listens to me!!! Think it will be great to drive to, must get the CD player in the car fixed...... for all you ageing rockers out there...a highly recommended album.....

Dear All

I agree David "The sons of Kate Elder" was very good western.
What a cast!

John Wayne, Dean Martin and Earl Holiman.

Does anyone remember "Went the day well?".

The film takes place in an English village during WWII.
Some German spies are holding the villagers hostage.

It is a film of twists as no one knows who the spies are.
Tension packed.

Very best wishes to all.
xx

Hi Nicky,

Many happy returns!!

Yes Bruce Springsteen - I remember going to see him at Wembley Arena in OMG 1981 or was it 82? He didn't have a support band - he played two sets and then 3 encores! People started to go but I knew he was still playing more because he hadn't done 'Born to Run' (probably my favourite track of all time - he could have written that song about me - the girl's name wasn't Wendy but ...)

The staff at Wembley Arena turned the lights on at about 11:30 and he was still playing!

And Pam - I still haven't seen the Milla Jovovich advert!

Dear David

Hello

Hope you enjoyed your birthday.

The youngest of the four brothers in "The Sons of Kate Elder" was called
Bud Elder, played by Michael Anderson, Jnr. He was born in 1943.

Best wishes.

David

David Report 13 Jun 2009 08:39

Thanks Elizabeth. Those 4 sons in that film from the eldest (Johm) to to youngest (Bud) looked about 40 years and there was little resemblence

But this detail apart it was one of Waynes better westerns

Hi Shemp!

Yes one of my favourites too, Inn of the Sixth Happiness. Love Ingrid Bergman, and of course her gorgeous daughter, Isabella Rossellini.

Just watched John Wayne's last lim The Shootist on TV

He was dying of lung cancer during the making of this film

His land ladie's son used to play the role of Cunningham in Happy Days

Richard Wydmark was an excellent actor

Memorable for Jim Bowie in The Alamo

Yes Inn of the sixth happiness.......what a lovely film, what a corageous woman Gladys Aylward was dragging all those children across those mountains { Ibelieve it was a true story???}

Ed.....I havn`t seen the Milla Jolavich advert for a while..I think they might have taken it off.

Bruce Springsteen at Wembley, bet that was great show....... off to the New Wembley myself in a few weeks to see Take That..... its meant to be amazing, and love them or hate them you have to admire the comeback they`ve made...... I can`t wait, they showed clips on Jonathan Ross on Friday night and it looks fantastic.

OH was also watching Total Recall the other night !!

Cunningham from Happy Days, think we spoke about him earlier in the thread.......... now a great film director.

David Report 22 Jun 2009 07:52

We (brothers & I ) used to go to the ABC Minors Matinee on a Saturday morning.

For sixpence we saw a cartoon a trailer a serial and a short film.

Kept us all out of mischief and provided revenue for the Olympia cinema.
