Carole, They have no empathy with anyone. I had a friend who unfortunately got divorsed. She met a man who was a millioner, they married and had a child, I am still friends with her. At the time my mother said to me, (I don't suppose you want to be friends with her now) think that was showing my mothers jelousy. Sometimes wish she was still alive as now I am stronger could find out what made her tick, but as others have stated they deny everything.

Good morning.Are we all out choosing tasteful presents for our mummies?

Wherever I went I had to bring back a present.When I was ten I went to London on a school trip and didn't buy much at all.Only one sulked because I had not brought them anything.

Good Morning, I feel a fraud venturing on to this thread at all, just as I have felt terribly intrusive reading it. None of it applies to me but as I have read through it has given me an incite into the possiblility of it applying to a good friend, so many of the stories have an 'echo' with conversations we have had.

I had a lovely day, sun shining, tasty brunch, Lewis got a podium finsh on the first race of the F1 season..........

I mentioned this thread to my counsellor today, she had heard of narcissm but not connected with mothers, so to teach herself a bit more, she is going to have a look at this thread, I think I was right in telling her she could access it to read but not add as she is not a member. Hope she can find it, the more she reads of others' experiences, the more help it will be for her.

Can you print off the article for her Liz?

I found an article mentioned on here last year. I printed it and highlighed anything which I saw as my Mum in one colour, and anything I saw as myself in another colour. I gave it to my counsellour.

How did you get on Liz? Hope you felt a good relationship between you and your counsellour. I did the one I am about to start with. Waited a long time haven't we xx

This counsellor seems to be picking up on lots of things as we talk and we will be exploring them all as we go along. I will let you know how I get on. I didn't realise you are seeing someone new, Carole, hope you get on ok.

I just googled that Geocities link and it's no longer available, apparently Geocities has closed.

Liz have sent a few via PM, When you really delve into it, it is amazing what you can find.

I had a great giggle reading some of the symptoms of this disorder. I have seen and heard them all, so strange now.

I think through life one of the labels may fit us all at one time or another, and I probably have shown these traits myself at times, few and far between I might add.

When you lump them together and have the lot thrown at you in one person it is very scary, and such an eye opener reading various articles.

Doh, just looked and yes, I had noticed that message earlier, having a fuzzy afternoon, just been out and done some shopping, took stuff back to Tesco that didn't fit and got my overcharge back, but spent it all on groceries lol
