I read my parish mag yesterday and there was a warning from police . A woman pulled in for petrol and went in to pay the assistant told her not to and to walk round shop and pretend to look at things as they had seen someone get in the back of her car and had phoned the police. When the police arrived they found a lad in back of car who admitted that he was trying to join a gang and that he intended to Kidnap the woman and take he back to be raped if still alive she would be released .Because he had no weapon he could only be done for trespess and that was all .So if leaveing you car even to get fuel please lock your car and be careful. It brought back memories of some years ago when I heard of a simalar thing in that case someone followed the woman flashing there lights to get her attention when she got home and stopped the car the person in the car behind jumped out and told the woman that they had seen someone get in the back of the car.A man was found in the back with a knife. So stay safe everyone and be aware

Victoria I had an email similar a while ago

La gooner i dont wish to offend but it struck me strange how you were more concerned for your car a material possesion at the end of the day rather than your own life.

Sorry I think i must be in a thoughtful mood lol

This story has being doing the rounds for years, not sure if is even has any truth in it. But it is a good reminder to keep your car doors locked and to be safe and stay safe

Sky Diamond thats great and also recomended in the tips that go with the Warning along with weman in the habit of sitting in the car and going through cheaque books filling in the stubs and putting on makeup . This makes you a sitting target especially when in car parks and someone is more likely to be watching out for a victim

The fear of crime is worse than the reality, but that is no excuse to be complacent.

I've heard all these warning before, but can honestly say that in 32 years, I never once came across nor heard of a confirmed case of 'ransom' demands as described, although I saw the warnings in taxi offices, etc.

But it certainly was and is common for cars to be turned over whilst unlocked at petrol stations.

Hi Victoria

The amount of grace is matterless, a concession is enough. Re-affirming my opinion regarding the battle of the sexes......
:-)

The pub was good but they made me drink far too much lovely beer. Please keep your voice down a little......

there have been a couple of cases of peoples (mainly ladies) cars being hijacked around where i live. No ransom, or anything funny like that...just a case of take your keys, get you out of your car, drive off with it.

Victoria

Tis better to be given the warning, even if not true than not have the one that it is true.
