If doors were left open Mum would say
"Are you from Bardney"?
This village near Lincoln,it had an Abby, and the story goes that someone important arrived late one night, after the doors had been locked, and no one would open the door. So to make sure this never happened again the doors were always left open.

"what do you think you're doing" - as if I was somehow deluded!

"if I have to tell you again, you'll know about it" - obviously!

"if the wind changes, your face'll stay like that" - and if it doesn't, what then?

daft or what? But what's even sillier is that I find myself saying just the same things.

One of my mum,s fave sayings was 'under me arm on an 'ook' when I asked her where something was that I had lost.
