There is a difference between London and Greater London though. You wouldnt consider Enfield as Central London even though it is North.

Sally, Camberwell is virtually Central London. I have ancestors who lived in nearby Walworth for a short while in the 1870s.

We'll have to agree to disagree, Benjamin. I wouldn't say Edgware was Central London but I do think of people from Edgware as being Londoners - same as Camberwell which as I'm sure you know was in Surrey.

And while I'm being pedantic, Sally:))) The sound of Bow Bells doesn't refer to Bow in East London but to the bells of St Mary le Bow in Cheapside - so Cockneys and East enders ain't the same thing:)))

Have any of you ever had obnoxious or rude record office archivists who just dont want to help at all?

I once visited the St Pancras & Islington Cemetery to find a few of my ancestors burials and one lady kept sighing and tutting every time I asked her for another burial book. Its her ******* job to serve the people. Another one snapped at me when I asked her to confirm for me if there was more than one book for each year, one was for the church and one was for the chapel.

Uggers if you call Edgware people Londoners, I shall start calling Liverpool people Brummies then shall I???

Me and my mate had the same problem at the Pancras & Islington Cemetery. The woman bringing the indices out was fine but her superior was really unhelpful and unpleasant.
