*$parkling $andie*

*$parkling $andie* Report 14 Mar 2009 23:28

No , our garden is big but on a slight slope (so is our neighbours but they have one)
I always thought it a threat with my children were young and around, you hear so many stories of fatal accidents.

I have 2 robins coming into my garden every morning, do you think it's mum and dad feeding the chicks ? (We have a large laurel hedge which we have nests in the past .)

Anne

Anne Report 15 Mar 2009 10:44

It does sound like you have a young robin family nesting near by. Watch out for magpies as they are notorious for stealing other birds eggs

Can you tell the difference between male & female robins?

[ we have four that are in our garden most of the time 2 chubby ones and 2 slightly taller and thinner. One of each seem to make a pair but not sure which is which.]

*$parkling $andie*

*$parkling $andie* Report 16 Mar 2009 23:10

Unfortunately we have a lot of magpies
I have a 'bird book' (have more reference books than novels !)

I do not know the difference between the male and female robins will check it out tomorrow, but as they are small birds and are generally at the bottom end of my garden, ( 60 ft perhaps ) and I do wear varifocals can't tell. They don't seem to be worried by they magpies and chase off the blackbirds.lol
