Hi Sinead, Drawing a blank on this one I'm afraid. There are no Roles at all. Have found Rowles, Rowls, Rolls, Rolles, Ralls and Rawles in Glamorgan but still no Frederick. Do you have any other forenames I can search? |

Thanks Lucy-how did I know he wouldn't be there!Unfortunately, all I can confirm at the moment is his name and his father's (also Frederick Roles).I'm not even sure of his year of birth- on his marriage certificate he gives his age as 20 but according to the gro indexes in his year (1878) there were no frederick roles born-there was one born in 1877 in Edmonton and one born in 1880 in coate somerset and as yet i have to verify which one he could be.But thanks anyway! |

Thank you Lucy, You deserve a break. You are more than a star, you are the bestest supernova in the universe. It looks as if my William may have been living at his Uncle's to be nearer to work. Jim |

Hi Lucy, When you have time, please look for Edward Higgins Ralph (Higgins may have been omitted on the census) in Liverpool, possibly the Everton district. He would be about 25 in 1891, living with wife Catherine and possibly some children or other relations. He was born in Liverpool. Many thanks, Lilian |

Hi Shirley, Having a bit of trouble with this one - it's really difficult when sometimes the places are classed as Surrey and other times London. The best I can come up with for the moment is: Mary M Simpson, 52, sing, daur, b. Camberwell Living with mother Jane Simpson and siblings Jane, Lydia and Kate in Battersea and Mary M Simpson, wife, mar, 53, London Charles G Simpson, head, mar, 57/58 ? fish, London living in Bermondsey |

Lucy I am sorry I gave you so litle to go on. I think Mary M Simpson could be the one. The age is right. In the 1881 census She was down as married but no husband was present. I wonder if the G after Charles is Glover? That would clinch it. Shirley |

Shirley, The address for Mary and husband Charles is 20 Linsey Street, Bermondsey. It looks like a multi occupancy house the other families are: Frederick White, Mary White and Walter Land John Potter and Amy Potter Just in case they're related. |
