Mystified Report 7 Apr 2004 10:31

I found the following on a US mailing list, talk about Adam and Eve!!!!!!! Success Story I have been doing my family's genealogy research for all of my adult life (over 40 years now), and have identified over 20,000 ancestors all the way back to Cerdic, King of the West Saxons, in 534 A.D. So, when my son-in-law asked for help in building his family tree, I thought it would be easy. Everything went well, as I identified about 4,000 ancestors for him in a month. There were rumors that his family was related to General Robert E. Lee, but one key ancestor could not be found. I went to Genealogy.com, attempting to find the connection in someone else's tree. I found twelve promising links, acquired the contributors' snail-mail addresses and wrote requesting further information. One of them did indeed have the missing link! Once this link was found, I was able to take my son's family all the way back to about 1,000 A.D. At the same time, the wife of a distant cousin contacted me for further information. Once we traded family information, the link between her family and mine added a German and Italian branch to our Anglo-French family tree, and even included a link to movie star Anne Bancroft. World Family Tree is indeed connecting the whole world, and providing an invaluable service to genealogists the world over! William Thomas Tucker, III

Paul Report 7 Apr 2004 11:06

It has taken me 6 years to find about 300, and not all of them are confirmed. If I could have worked it like that, I should have been able to find what I have in about 2 days. I want some of what they were taking!!!!!!! Paul

Hey, Susan, I have a Welsh Jones side I keep putting off researching too. Could it be, do you think? .... nah. Just to prove how common the name is my Grandma Jones married my Grandfather Jones, so I don't even get away with following the female side.

He must of been standing up while he said all that, cos if he was sitting down he would of been a bit muffled and hard to hear. "Many of the Chieftans, both Irish and Scottish, date back far beyond the beginnings of peerage titles. The O'neills originate in the 5th century which makes them the oldest traceable family in western europe. True, evidence for their earliest origins is oral tradition" (Your Family Tree, Issue 10, April 2004, page 27.) So I do believe that he is talking out of his a***

I remember seeing this same message on another list several years ago. Nobody believed it then either. If it were that easy there would be no need for GC.

Annie Report 7 Apr 2004 20:28

Does this mean that Anne Bancroft can now trace her family back to 534 AD? So if I can establish a link to Anne Bancroft or Mel Brooks I've got 20,000 more people I can add to my tree? I can't keep tabs on the ones I've already got ... What a load of Blazing Saddles. Ann

Hi All. Oh and William the III too. I was in need of a good laugh when I got up this morning! Thank you William No.III. I could have done the same if I'd adopted a phone book! Your declared info goes back PRE-records time so you must have a pile of stone tablets in your filing system. UNBelievable! There's someone from the Guiness Book of Records on their way to you right now. Jim
