I think my most unusual names are a female named Tomison Gibson (Hewson), another female called Almina, and a Cawood (male, Cawood being his mother's maiden name).

Alchin The youngest of my great grandmother's brothers had this as his firstname. It was not uncommon as a surname in Kent. He laso used it as his eldest son's first name.

Hi all I found one yesterday on 1837 oline called Ivy Geranium Yates. Her parents must have been keen gardeners! My most unusual one is a lady called Stenhous. I think it must have been a mistake by the registrar as there is no other mention of her. Lynne

My grandfather born 1875 in Norfolk, was JEUEL JABEZ GRAY. Jeuel is mentioned once in the Bible. Family legend has it that Jeuel's mother Ruth, who was illegitimate, was very devout, and she called many of her sons after Biblical characters - Samuel, Lemuel etc. My Jeuel is the only one on ancestry apart from a possible that the transcriber has *ed. In case you are wondering, it was pronounced "Jool". On the other side of my dad's family, his mum's grandfather was called EMMETS MATTHEWS. I assume Emmets was a surname used as a first name, but have yet to check this out. Sadly all the women are Eliza/Susannah/Mary with the occasional Sophia or Louisa thrown in! nell

An Aunt called Octenia, another Topsey and another Viney, Dad was called George! Octenia was the First born, not the eighth, so can't find a reason there. Suckling as a male name on another branch of the tree, named after his Godfather (But it was his surname!) Suex

Going back about 100 years I've got an auntie Minerva, known to all as Minnie. Perhaps not very unusual compared to some on here, however, Minerva was the Roman goddess of wisdom, the counterpart of the Greek goddess Athina.
