I was hoping that ones with Charles as a son would narrow it down for William, but I know Charles got married in Northamptonshire and I can't see any in that area in 1841. Someone sent me info on James Gardner, so we can disregard that one. I found a death ref for William in 1880, and he was 73 when he died, so that would make birth c1803. He died in Towcester, so couldn't have moved around that much. How about chasing him back from 1871? Would that work? I wanted to know Charle's mother's details so I can follow on.

Hi Debra, Thanks very much for your time and effort but I am sure this is not the William I am looking for. I think his wife Ann would have still been alive and he would have had a son Henry aged 10. There were several families of Leivers born in Selston around that time. I think I have him on the 1881 census living in Heage, Derbyshire. Just himself and step daughter Elizabeth Adlington, although there are errors in their ages. Don't worry if you can't find it, the 1861 census showing the family was not found on Ancestry. She was born around 1870 and was married in I think about 1886 to a Frederick Day, with a little luck they should be around the Berkshire area. Sorry I haven't much to go on. Hi Debra! Reckon you must be some sort of angel (or masochist!!) but am certainly glad of your offer to help do 'look ups'. I desperately need to know who my Grandfather Benjamin Raby's father was. Benjamin was born in 1900 in Preston Lancashire and that's also where he died in 1974. He was married to Lillian (nee Jones). I know his father also lived in Preston, but not sure where he was born. Hi Deb Thanks for the info on John Jones 1851 census, much appreciated. However the ifo seems to be at odds with the 1861 info I supplied you with. This info came from me trying to read some very spidery writing and i am very uncertain about the 2nd last child aged 6 which looks to me like Margaret David???. The last child also looks like David aged 2 which agrees with the 1871 info (age 12) but is at odds with your 1851 census which also has a David age 2 (abt 1849). As I am a newby to all this I don't know whether you look up the original census page or a transcribed typed copy. Anyway to cut a long story short are you able to check John Jones 1861Public record office reference 9/4037 (I dont know if this helps?) also I can't make out the street, sorry Any help would be much appreciated Regards John from Balmain Sydney
