Karen | Report | 8 Jan 2006 21:30 |
Everything is round Northampton way. However it says the children were born Cleveland in Yorkshire, but living in Northampton in 1881. So possibly have a look to see if they later moved back to Northampton. |

Is Semilong on the outskirts, or near the centre? |
|||
|
The Bag | Report | 8 Jan 2006 21:51 |
karen, centre, kingsthorpe would have been on the outskirts then ( not now!!) blast ! cant find him in 1851 ~ which is irritating there are Gardners in kingthorpe but cant see George ??GARDNER, George 1859 December Births Northampton (1837-1924) Northamptonshire ??GARDNER, George 1860 December Births Northampton (1837-1924) Northamptonshire in the 1861 census george jnr was said to be one, so registered dec 1859 not unreasonable. might be worth sending for, fathers name george as a checking point, would give you janes maiden name too ( cant spot the marriage) |

So they must have moved pretty quick after George was born. I agree it's irritating not to be able to find him in 1851, I was really hoping I could prove he was the brother. I was hoping he was the son of James and Elizabeth. Then I can prove the link of Henry Wyatt - I have an Elizabeth, who had a brother George, who married Charles Wyatt - who just so happenend to have a brother Henry. |

Well I started out with the Wyatt's. Found out Charles Wyatt married an Elizabeth Gardner. Then discovered that Charles had a brother Henry. Thought, have a look at 1881, and there's a Henry lodging with a family of Gardner's. So I thought if I could take it back to 1851 then maybe I could see George Gardner living with his sister Elizabeth. Chase them back down and prove out that Henry was a brother-in-law or something and staying with them. I'm afraid my logic is never straight forward, it goes off on tangents. |

Would it be worth tracking down the other children's birth ref? It may be easier. I found all the birth ref's for the other children. Reg district Guisborough, so fits. |

Hello Jess I wonder if you can help with the following: 1891 Census I am looking for a Maud(e) Bennett (born 1880/81 or 1883/4) most likely in the Manchester or surrounding areas. I am trying to match her up with her father James Bennett who was a hairdresser we think in the Manchester area, but have no idea of his DOB. I can't find a match on the 1901 census, so am hoping 1891 might provide a clue? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Catherine |

Hello Jess (additional info to above message) Whilst doing a bit of delving on the historical directories website last night I discovered an Elizabeth Bennett living at 121 Clifton St, Old Trafford, Manchester which is the address Maud gave when she married in 1907. Maud's father James is shown as deceased on her marriage certificate. So perhaps Elizabath is her mother, sister or grandmother? Maybe this might help to find Maud or James? It is a shame there are so many James and Elizabeth Bennetts, but thankfully not too many Mauds! Thanks for any help you can offer. Catherine |
