I have wondered about upgrading my basic free Tribalpages membership for the sake of printing a wider range of charts - I particularly like the fan charts. Does anyone have a view on the value of this (a little over £10 pa - which is bugger all really) and the quality of the reports produced? |

Tribal pages gives you the option of a directory listing. If you don't want your site listed it will be private and can only be viewed by invatation if you opt for a listing the matching will be by date of birth and death. Matching trees are visible when you log in to enter your own site. If you go to the site you can view some specimen trees including one for the British royal family which is used as a tutorial to see what is possible. You can add photographs 60 for the free version and about 200 for the basic paid version. When you go to your site you will get a slide show of about 12 random photos. You can choose to hide living people. You have the option to add a short introduction about your family to your home page and you get a visitors book and web counter. It also allows cousin marriages or other odd relationships. I have brother and sister marrying brother and sister. You need the paid version to download gedcoms or print family trees. Anne |

Re the question about downloading from TP and getting loads of rubbish in text. I use TP as my main tree because when I used the GR tree as main and re put in on TP the photos got mixed up. Until the new GR tree there was never any problem uploading from TP to GR but now , because of all the photos I have on it, my GR tree is a mess. A new problem is that since TP asks you to code people with the same name and I use date of birth, I now have, on GR, people called John 1854 with there surname coming as middle name. Have contacted Gr and they say I should change it by hand. Not likely!! When I next upload from TP , I will put it into PAF and upload from PAF to GR and see what happens. Though PAF cannot cope with the notes which are full of the photo codes. Why can't they make the Gedcom compatible!!! |
