My MIL (god rest her soul) was married to a Alec Peter Harold Davey (At time of marriage he was in Navy and lived in E7) They got married in Nov 1944. I have there marriage cert here. How can I find more info on him? If they had kids and his family? Have found on Ancestry July Quart 1945 she married a man by the name of Raymond Bickell in Essex. I cant find a death for Alec, what would his name be short for? And could she have married this quick? Am waiting for the Bickell marriage cert to come. Have had a day trying to tie up loose ends and this is one of them that has been left loose for a long time. Thanks janey

You must have found someone with the same name for the second and isnt yours, unless the name is really off the wall.

Hi Alter The second marriage resulted in the birth of my Hubby's half brother. So I know that happened. As I said have ordered the cert but they are still taking weeks to come through. janey : 0 )

Alter, this lady is a special case!! (hope you don't mind me saying that Jane, but she did work her way through several, didn't she??!) I would have thought if she had a change of heart and just married the second chap bigamously, then she would have used her maiden name (though anything's possible!!) I can't see a death in the ordinary indices, or the overseas/war deaths. Can you tell from the cert.....was he in the merchant navy? Merry

I suppose Alec might have been declared ''missing presumed dead''.....Maybe she assumed the worst and got herself into another relationship.....married, and then...........Alec wasn't dead after all???? Oooohhh-errr! Merry

Wonder if he is still alive LOL It is all very strange - wonder what happened

Merry Report 7 May 2006 20:08

Maybe the second cert will hold a clue? I have tried The Times archive for any ref to him. Nothing! I suppose he might have been employed by the RN but still be a civilian?? Hmmmmmm .....and I'm not sure what difference that would make? I asked if he was in the Merchant Service, because I know there has been confusion as to whether Merchant Service War Deaths should be included in the CWGC records. Some are and some are not (I think). Merry
