Reg Hva eno way at this stage of telling if Henry the twin of Wallace is mine - all coincidence at this point - Sheffield / Wolverhampton connection and the year of births Joanne

Merry Report 21 Aug 2006 23:14

Well for the boy called Charley Hall who later becomes a girl called Charlotte Fellows to be in the home of Wallace Fellows in 1881 is a remarkable co-incidence if Wallace and Henry are NOT twins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Merry

OMG Merry you absolute star !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are amazing!!!!!!!!!! ***** tears of joy******* Over 12 months I have been hunting this one and you do it in one night So Charlotte isn't a real Fellows either, unless they never married and the other older two are Hall's as well and then is why I couldn't spot them. Oh my god please tell me they are real Fellows - My Mum was a Fellows the grand daughter of the son Henry ( harry ) born in 1874, please god don't let us not be Fellows!!! Joanne

Merry

Merry Report 21 Aug 2006 23:23

Stop panicking!!! Step one....get Charlotte's birth cert and see what games her mum was up to.....was mum really MRS Hall? The cert may tell you. Once you know any previous name for Emma Hall you will be in a better position to find her in the earlier censuses and work forward. I can't see Emma Fellows in 1871 (b 1868) but am not sure where she was born? Brum or Wolverhampton? Anyway.....one step at a time! Merry

Emma and Harry have got to be Fellows, they are the only two mot born in Sheffield. When they first appear in 1881 they are the heads of the household that Emma Hall is living in with them so they can't be Hall's. But then again Charlotte wasn't meant to be a Hall either. Ok won't panic at this point will send for th cert tomorrow and see what is happening, I have a feeling Charlotte is a Hall and nothing to do with Fellows Joanne

Right have now ordered the cert for Charlotte Hall ( who later is named Fellows) Hoepfully this will then tell me more about her Mother Emma Hall. I think we can now safely say that my Henry Fellows is the twin brother of Wallace which gives me loads to go out and keep me busy, Once I get the cert I will post an update on it Many thanks again to everyone and especially Merry whom I wouldn't have cracked it without her help Joanne

Right have today got the cert for Charlotte Hall ( who later becomes a Fellows ) who up until now we always thought was a Fellows and the daughter of my 2x great grandad and his second wife/partner - Emma Hall Right cert says Charlotte Hall - daughter of Emma Hall nee Ellis, Father Henry Hall !! So Charlotte is not a Fellows, Emma was married before to a Hall, Confused?? Me too Emma Hall has led us a merry dance with her kids, changing names and passing them off as Fellows - bad lady Joanne

Jessie aka Maddies mate Report 1 Sep 2006 19:32

Now found the marriage of Emma Ellis to Henry Hall in 1871 so Charlotte is without doubt a Hall. Thanks to all who have helped on this one Joanne

Merry

Merry Report 1 Sep 2006 19:36

Ah, but if Mrs Hall was actually estranged from her husband, and Charlotte was the dau of Mr Fellows, she might still register the baby with her husband as the father (legally she would have the right to do this - it's part of the marriage contract!).....it's would save all those embarrasing conversations with the registrar! Merry

Merry Report 1 Sep 2006 19:38

If Charlotte was really a Fellows it would make more sense why Wallace and his wife were looking after her, maybe?? Merry

Marriages Sep 1871 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ellis Emma Sheffield 9c 552 Hall Henry Sheffield 9c 552 Jones Caroline Sheffield 9c 552 NEWMAN John Sheffield 9c 552 I suppose you want to know what happened to Henry Hall?? If the above marriage have been BEFORE the 1871 census we might have been able to find out, but at the mo we don't know anything about him! (another £7???) UPDATE - sorry, just noticed you had already seen this!! Merry
