No matter where I look, I cannot find a marriage between my Great grandfather and Great Grandmother. Both are listed on my Grandads Birth certificate (William Roy Yates Born March 1916 London) with his mother surname listed as Stone. It’s causing me no end of problems tracing back on that side? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Do you know when Florence died? having her birth year would help locate marriage perhaps? Also do you know her middle names?

What was William senior's occupation on the birth cert please?

London birth records say father was a tool maker, mother was Florence Elena Margaret. William Roy was born 26 March 1916, Richmond Rd., Shepherd's Bush.

Have you looked for them on the 1939 register

Maybe his mum had been married before didn’t marry mr Yates as surname Stone

That is correct, that’s the right people! I’m just struggling to find any further information on Florence, her parents etc.

William Roy was my Grandfather and I am desperately trying to go further back on this side, my own father is quiet unwell and would love to know more information about his grandfather.

On my mothers side, we’ve been quiet successful and have traced back to 1774.

I can’t find a date of death and somewhere I believe I found that her date of birth was approx 1886.

I did see her name was stone, but just believed that was her maiden name as it’s shown on my Grandads and great Aunts birth registry.

Who was your great aunt and when was she born please?

Were there any other siblings

I have two/possibly 3 great aunts. One was Lillian Annie Yates Born 1921 died 1996 her married name was Bampton.

I also had any Aunt Flo (Florence born 1908) and possibly an aunt May?

As Lilian was born reg district Bingham could this be the marriage for William Roy

Edit no she was a Florence Ellen Mary and stayed and married in Gloucestershire

There doesn’t seem to be a birth reg for the name of Florence Elena Margaret Stone

Have you found Florence born c1905 on the 1911 census

Thanks Shirley, I have the Information for William & Sylvia as that’s my Nan & Grandad. But it just seems like there is nothing more or it’s well hidden on William’s side. It’s proving tricky isn’t it

If that’s the right 1939 reg for Lilian the she isn’t with her parents

The 1939 reg didn’t pick up lilians marriage but she was still in the same area
