If Sarah Ann's birth certificate is printed I would be inclined to contact Stockton Register Office and tell them you have already bought the certificate but could they please check the mother's maiden name as father's name and the address of birth were what you expected but the mother's maiden name is wrong. |

Unfortunately the suggestion on your thread, Gwyn, that it might have been the husband's mms which was entered by mistake, doesn't work here. |

i have had word from stockton registry office after looking again at the myers/green / greener mystery and they say sarah ann,s mother is definatly ann formaly myers and johns mother is definatly ann green , and also said even though a document is hand writen they have to coppy things as they were on the acctualy document even if the spelling was incorrect ....so it still a big question mark on myers / green / greener |

If it was Ann who registered Sarah Ann's birth - and it being her first child so not used to the process of registering - then I wonder if when she was asked what was the mother's maiden name, did she think they meant HER mother's maiden name instead of her own and that her mother's maiden name was possibly Myers. |

Scotlands People doesn't show any births for an Ann Green or Greener or Myers (or variant spellings) , with father Robert, anywhere in Scotland 1818-25 |

i have searched ancestry trees and there are quite a few who have robert green dob 1767 death occupation carter 1854 and wife margaret mair 1772 married jan 1802 ellon aberdeenshire and all the trees have them with 2 children robert 1806 and james 1811 they both married and occupatons were in linnen clothier , and there childrens occupations flaxdresser , ropmaker , dealer and baker , this family stayed in aberdeenshire , my robert green on anns marriage was tailor so it looks sadly like the wrong family ... |
