Hi' still quite new to the geneology world. How would I go round finding a missing death record? I have tried the online stuff available and burial records. The person in question appears deceased on his daughters wedding certificate in the 1890's. His name is George Nelson Mills born c 1824 in Ipswich. Appears in 1841 in Ipswich, overseas in Army 50's and 60's, then reappears in 1871 demobbed in Leeds with children Nelson, Richard and Clara. This is also the only appearance for Nelson Mills born Cork, Ireland 1854. No BMD records at all, the rest were Lancashire born. No relation. Any other idea's please or plan of attack from an experienced amature geneologist. Much appreciated and many thanks.

Thats them Patchem. When I enquired about Nelson in the past, people are pointing me to Lancs. Not the same man though. I just dont know what else to go on. Vanishing in thin air springs to mind. I do appreciate your reply Patchem. Thank you

Have you found any of them in 1881 and 1891?
Thanks

Only in 1891 patchem. No Nelson then, dont think George was there. So confusing?

Could you post the 1891 census, as I can find Richard married in 1891, but not Fanny and Clara?
Thanks

I understand that you're looking for George, Richard, but every little bit of info gleaned and shared helps track the family down. Widowed mothers are often living with their sons or daughters.

For example when & where was Clara married?

Hi Ozbird, hope i didn't offend. Clara married an Exley in Leeds in 1892 I think? Guess all evidence helps. Will try and find other bits if required. Much appreciated

How do you know that Clara Arabella is your Clara - do you have the wedding certificate?
Do you have a birth certificate for Clara?
Thanks

Added: Clara is 7 in 1871, so born 1863/1864

Richard Report 31 Dec 2010 22:31

Hi Ozi, as far as I am aware, the Nelson was a male thing. It doesnt appear in 1841 in Ipswich, however you can see where some of the female names come from. Sorry. Getting to know my way round. Shall dispense with name clicking

Richard

Richard Report 31 Dec 2010 22:35

Ozi, I have the wedding certificate for Clara Arabella in 1892. It states George Nelson Mills is deceased by then. Could not find a birth record though. She would of been born near the barracks then, in York. Nothing on free bmd?

Richard Report 31 Dec 2010 22:38

Wow, certainly many angles to attack from. Very indepth Ozi. Sorry I dont have the facts to hand. I am on a night shift at work. All off the top of my head.
