Just checked the 1901 image. Madler (not sure it is Madler but writing is a bit squiggly) is female. Possibly his mother but relationship shows as boarder to HoH.

The next logical step would appear to be to obtain a copy of the 1924 marriage certificate of Caroline Archer and Thomas R Branson:

Hopefully this may reveal some details of the groom such as his age at marriage and hopefully some details about his father.

Looking at the death index the only post 1924 death in England/Wales of a Thomas R Branson would appear to be the one below although there are many Thomas Branson deaths recorded but none appear to tie in with a birth c1884.
