The next logical step would appear to be to obtain a copy of the 1924 marriage certificate of Caroline Archer and Thomas R Branson:

Hopefully this may reveal some details of the groom such as his age at marriage and hopefully some details about his father.

Looking at the death index the only post 1924 death in England/Wales of a Thomas R Branson would appear to be the one below although there are many Thomas Branson deaths recorded but none appear to tie in with a birth c1884.

Just checked the 1901 image. Madler (not sure it is Madler but writing is a bit squiggly) is female. Possibly his mother but relationship shows as boarder to HoH.

i think its the other way round i think he may of changed his name to branson not sure as caroline married name was branson but on the children birth certs the name phenton is on them

Why do you believe that this person subsequently changed their name to Phenton? Do you have any evidence to support that theory?

Stupid question but are we talking about Colchester in the UK or in USA

we have looked at branson as we thought they might be the same person was not sure if he change his name as his name is also thomas r but their seems to be a lack of info on the phenton
