Further to my last post
Elizabeth born in 1850 is now with her mother Eliza and father Henry Nicholls, boarding with Henry's brother Charles. Now she is referred to as Elizabeth L Nicholls
Confusing?

And I have now worked out what is happening.
Henry Nicholls married for the second time Eliza Lucock. She had a daughter Eliza born in 1831.
Henry's stepdaughter had a daughter in 1850 - this is the child shown as a grandaughter to Henry on the 1851 Census.
Simple really if you pay attention to the facts

Good for you Arthur - keep up the good work
Perhaps she really was Anne Bonny the pirate & you have found a Celebrity.
Congratulations Sylvia - glad you had a lovely time. Cant believe he is 7 seems only yesterday you were talking about his arrival.
We go to our Steak house for our birthday & anniversary - its not cheap but lovely Steak & we know we can trust them. So dont mind spending the money. My friends tried to get me to go somewhere else. Its more expensive and we dont like the menu (apart from the steak) or the look of the place - they dont understand why we wont try somewhere different.
We cant afford to eat out so when we do its a treat and we want to enjoy ourselves and spending that sort of money somewhere we may not like. We have starter mains and dessert at our favorite place for the same amount of money.
Take care all

Further, further info on Eliza Lucock.
I should not find it surprising noting what you and Sylvia have said, but a number of people have Henry Nicholls Stepfather) as her father.
Eliza was born in 1830 when Henry was married to his first wife, living nowhere close and her mother (also Eliza Lucock) was married to William Lucock.
Anne - as steak quality can very considerably, stick to what you know. It is after all joyous occasions you are celebrating.

Dipping into my tree again.
Found a person who clearly does not understand the meaning of death.
On a family tree Amelia Nicholls was shown as born August 1830, died September 1830 This information, together with her parent,s was correct.
The tree owner then showed not one, but two, marriages with multiple children.
Hope all is well with you all
Arthur
PS My "Killer Queen" cat has finally got the message. she presented me with 2 dead voles (they eat bulbs underground). A distinct improvement on live shrews (good for the garden)

Oh well another birthday has come and gone - another year and 18 days older
My OH was 65 but cant believe it - dosn't seem 5 mins ago he was worried about hitting 40 and here we are 25 years later - feels only like a year or 2 ago.
So much has changed and so many people have moved away from this thread - its very sad.
Hope all the regulars are keeping well

Sylvia and Anne
Could you please tell me how you approach your tree.
Do you track the line of your your maiden name and the line of your husband. Would this include all the brothers and sisters of the direct ancestor?
If you deviate what is the reason.
I ask because I decided not to follow the family line of my paternal Gt Grandfather's first born son' s wife.. Arthur Nicholls married Adelaide Messer - her family is enormous (I was advised by someone in the family it would add more than 3,000 to my tree).
Not long before I go to Greece for a week - hope for some fine weather and no rain.
Hope you are both well - and hope Shadow is continuing to enjoy life with you Anne.
In spite of military planning I only managed to take one cat to the vet today - a different one from last month when they managed to outfox me. It is not that important as it is to get their flea treatment and to have them weighed..
Best wishes
Arthur

Hi Arthur - hope you have a wonderful time on Holiday.
Shadow continues to be in very good health and runs his two slaves into the ground making sure he has every comfort when he needs it. Play with me now - Wheres my food , I'm not eating that , its too warm I need the window open , I'm too cold wheres my fleece. I don't like that programme and changes the channel then walks off upstairs. I dont want to be disturbed and goes under the duvet.
Certainly a little character, glad to see the girls are keeping you on your toes.
Regarding the tree.
We only really follow the main family line. not the brothers and sisters - unless i get stuck and then I try anything to get a lead.
For me i have my Mothers and fathers line , then their parents and so on but not the extended family or 2nd wife's/husbands family either. One day if we have time we may go back and do them

Hi
I'm just back from holiday .................. a 2 week trip going to Quebec City using trains both ways. We had a great time, but there was a lot of snow already fallen across the Prairies and Northern Ontario, as much as we have sometimes seen in December!
Arthur ...........
I follow brothers and sisters only to their marriage adding wife's maiden name, birth and death year and parents IF easy to find, but no further ........... unless something intrigues me, such as discovering they had emigrated to Australia and then I can get easily sidetracked!!
Like Anne, I may also follow a sibling if I've "lost" my direct ancestor or one of his/her children, just to see if they might have moved to live with an aunt or uncle.
I haven't bothered much with first wives/spouses except in finding the wife's maiden name, date of marriage and date of death, and sometimes parents IF easy to find, just to give some help and background with the child/ren who may remain with the living parent. I go no further into the dead spouses' family.

Anne
The girls are fine and will shortly be going to the cattery. I am spending 2 weeks in Kyrgyzstan hopefully looking at some excellent plants and spectacular scenery.
Was contacted by someone who thought we might be related. I was able to confirm we shared the same 3 x Great grandfather.
I am in fairly frequent contact with someone from my 2 x Gt grandfather's brother's family. We have established that we both lived in the same East London town at the same time, although both of us had moved away. Both our parents had moved there as children. He had been very fortunate to have another branch of the Nicholls clan contact him and reminisce about family members - all sadly unknown to me.
Hope Shadow is still giving you as much pleasure as my girls give me. with all the recent bad weather I could have become depressed, but their antics keep a smile on my face.
