Sally
Its lovely having animals around they are all so different - funny how they take the hump & sulk
Arthur
i love hearing the stories of the girls - they are so funny.
Shadow is the first one who seems to count his toys & know when one is missing - he will wait till I get home to show me where his rubber balls have gone or his cat nip toys. wonder if its a black cat thing. he also tends to put them all back in one place once he has finished playing. Its only when we get home unexpectedly we find them spread out.
He loves it when the quilt or cover is over hanging the bed & on the floor - he sneaks under it & then jumps out at me as I go past - trouble is its usually bare legs that get the claws as i have just got up. He never does it to John who has tougher skin than me.
He tends to walk all over my pillow & head when i am in bed & he wants me to get up - or if like this morning i had to get up early to visit the bathroom - he kept trying to get me to go back to bed so he could sleep & got quite cross when I didn't follow him up the stairs straight away.
I know Cynthia is around as i saw a post from her on another thread.
Hope all our silent readers are keeping well - Reece & Robert - keep in touch.
Off to check out some info on another thread
Take care all

High excitement today. My brother rang to say he had a letter from BTMR a probate research company based in Scotland. Had correct details for him and our parents.
I am expecting my letter to come tomorrow.
My 2 x Gt Grandfather was Scottish and I can only think the link is through one of my maternal grandmother's siblings.
Will let you know as it develops. :-D

I was wrong - not related to my maternal grandmother's family, but my paternal grandmother's family.
My brother has spoken to the company and learnt that a letter was sent to my sister in june - she had not replied. She is in Spain at the moment so cannot speak to her.
My brother gave them my address and my phone number - awaiting their call. I should have been the easiest to find as I lived at my previous address for 30 years and my present for 11 years.

Fingers crossed we are the right family.
It would be nice to receive some money, but the information on the family is valuable as I find it difficult trying to research after 1911.

Hi Everyone
Glad to be back into the land of the well,I still have this nagging Cough but otherwise I am fine . It has been a wonderful week of warm weather so Oh and I have been out in the garden doing all those things we do before Summer comes. My Roses are looking good and the lawns are nice and green ,they are saying we have a good load of rain coming in tonight that should last for a few days ..that will be good for the gardens and so I have fertilised everything I could think of.
Anne we all come out of the woodwork when the weather comes good,I love to talk about my Garden you all seem to talk about your cats of which I have none ,we are thinking this year of getting a puppy ,see what happens.
Oh is doing fine waiting for op on his wrist first then they are going to tackle his neck, that is a big op so will have to have a lot of patience when that is done but I am ready infact I wish they would hurry up and do it.
Back out to the garden to black magic my Roses :-D
Love to all my friends <3 :-D
Suex <3 :-D

Need a fresh pair of eyes please.
My maternal grandmother's sister Gertrude Hill married August Haack third quarter 1900.
On the 1911 Census (Where family name is shown as HAACH) she has 3 children Doris, August and Bessie I believe Bessie was born Vera Hannah B but was known as Bessie. When I visited with my father his cousins were Bess, George (born as Claus George in 1912) and Grace (born 1918)
The company who contacted me ref a possible inheritance, identified a Yokim Cristian A Haack born last quarter 1909. They said this is the person shown on the 1911 Census as August.
I would like to kill off Yokim/August but could find no records for Yokim.

You would think your own doctor would know your OH well enough to know that hospital was required.
I hope their treatment will get rid of the chest problems and he will be home soon.

Thanks for your efforts.
I did know of Yohim's birth details, but nothing after that. You would think his death should be recorded against his birth name Yohim and not as August his third name. As Yohim is very unusual it should leap out of the records, so I think he died as August and there are so many over the years.
Jean Saunders is a distant cousin and I have been advising her of changes to her tree. She is descended from the sister of my 2 x Gt Grandfather.
I have the details of the 2 children who died before the 1911 Census, and Doris died at 21.
The electoral register for 1908 only shows August - the father - as women did not have the vote. I found a Phone Book for 1906 that showed August worked from home as a hairdresser.
Thanks for looking
Arthur

At what point would you suggest you stop investigating the expanding family tree.
I received a hint on Ancestry relating to "mother-in-law of 3rd cousin 4x removed"
Would you incorporate this info?

Arthur
short answer .....................
no!
I don't go that far
I go in the direct line (parents, grandparents, gt grandparents, etc) as far back as I can
so that has me following 2 parents, 4 grandparents, 8 gt, and so on
I also try to get the names of all siblings of the direct line
If it is easy to find, I find what happened to each sibling, including spouse, name of spouse's parents (often only the father and forename of mother), and an idea of whether they had any children.
and that really is that
Having said that .................. I have taken things for a particular sibling much further on at least 2 occasions, once in my tree, once in OH's
That was because their lives suddenly got intriguing ................ the one in my tree went to NZ after marrying a German in London at short notice (not I think because they had to!), boarded a ship within 2 days along with his brother and his new wife .............. and they had a very interesting life as pioneers down there.

Good to hear they have stabilised him. Hope the blood tests go OK and he comes home.
Sylvia
I try like you to go back along the direct line. An exception was made with the Bonney family who emigrated to Australia. It has been fascinating plotting their considerable success from, in one case, a criminal base.
